Vietnam vet Kerry White releases his third book

VIETNAM veteran and former Toowoomba man Kerry White has released his third book called

Three of a Kind.

Mr White has reflected on how life led him to where he is today; an established author and

freelance writer residing on the Sunshine Coast.

It all began in Toowoomba where he was born and spent most of his life.

Mr White's inspiration for the novels was from his time as a serving solider in Vietnam from

1966-67.

But it was returning to Toowoomba where a series of life events lead him to discover his knack

for words.

"I had been (working) in the bank before I went into national service, I went back to the bank

but after I came back, like many others, I was very unsettled," he said.

"My mother said the war had changed me.

"So I left the bank, did a lot of things and wound up in advertising at The Chronicle.

"But I had always been writing to varying degrees, I'd write a lot about what I was doing in life."

Soon he was offered a full-time position in the editorial department.

Mr White credits his work mentality to his time at the newspaper, where he worked on and off

for up to 10 years.

He went on to work for more community papers and at the Sydney Morning Herald as a

subeditor.

It was during a new chapter of his life, he became an established author.

Mr White was semi-retired when he published his first book Poets from Hell in November

2014.

He celebrated his 70th birthday with his second book called Strength, Labour and Sorrow:

Poems and other Writings in March 2015.

The latest book Three of a Kind is about three military pilots from different wars.

Mr White plans to release one more book and is working on his memoirs.
