Name of the Activity: Offi cial Inauguration of the Flanders Peace Field By the First and Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland and the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Republic of Ireland Description: The old Mesen football pitch, situated in the Douve valley, right next to the site of the historic Christmas Truce, has been fully restored. In the coming years, the pitch is to host matches between teams of young people from various nations, who will engage in Peace Education around the themes of the Great War and the Christmas Truce.

Description: 4-nations U12 football tournament. With 2 Belgian, 2 British, 2 German and 2 French top teams.
Date : 12, 13 en 14 December 2014 Friday 12 December: educational day programme for the U12 players – Last Post in the evening. Saturday 13 and Sunday 14/12: all-day football tournaments and fi nal. Parallel to the main tournament a community tournament will be held on Saturday and Sunday. Musical entertainment throughout the weekend.

Description: The ‘Mildenhall College of Technology’ and the Paderborn ‘Gymnasium Theodorianum’ have been meeting in the ‘Westhoek’ for years to refl ect on the horrors of the Great War. Their pupils have pooled forces and designed a monument that is to be erected in Mesen. It depicts the Christmas Truce of a century ago.

Name of the Activity: Activities of the Christmas Truce Heritage Committee at Saint-Yvon
Description: The Heritage Committee will highlight the riches of the Truce concept in its many, motley aspects: - continuation of the academic/historical-political study of the Truce concept. Study carried out by a renowned Belgian scholar, with the support of a renowned foreign university. - event marking the launch of the Heritage Committee in 2015, in the presence of professors and authors participating in the Truce study, as well as political and moral authorities supporting the Heritage Committee, …. - annual conference, which will highlight one particular theme chosen by the secretary of the Heritage Committee. Various fringe workshops will also be held, and initiatives launched, undertaken by associations and/or towns, villages and sites proposing some form of Truce. - presentation of honorary and offi cial medals: ‘The Saint-Yves Cross’. Medals awarded by the Heritage Committee to all persons, associations or individuals who participated in this humanistic Truce effort.

Name of the Activity: Activities of the Christmas Truce Heritage Committee at Saint-Yvon
Description: The Heritage Committee will highlight the riches of the Truce concept in its many, motley aspects: - continuation of the academic/historical-political study of the Truce concept. Study carried out by a renowned Belgian scholar, with the support of a renowned foreign university. - event marking the launch of the Heritage Committee in 2015, in the presence of professors and authors participating in the Truce study, as well as political and moral authorities supporting the Heritage Committee, …. - annual conference, which will highlight one particular theme chosen by the secretary of the Heritage Committee. Various fringe workshops will also be held, and initiatives launched, undertaken by associations and/or towns, villages and sites proposing some form of Truce. - presentation of honorary and offi cial medals: ‘The Saint-Yves Cross’. Medals awarded by the Heritage Committee to all persons, associations or individuals who participated in this humanistic Truce effort.

13.09, 20.09, Via Dolorosa – Bus exposition Comines-Warneton09.11. et 20.12 Via Dolorosa retrace la retraite des armées belge et britannique au cours des premiers mois de guerre, d’août à décembre 1914. Un bus-exposition itinérant retrace le passage des armées dans les régions de Mons, Comines-Warneton, Zonnebeke et Diksmuide (d’autres dates à travers toute la Belgique).
15.09 > 28.09 Art-terre 14-18 Comines-Warneton 8 créateurs (ou équipes) sélectionnés sont invité(e)s à réaliser une œuvre artistique originale dans laquelle la terre et le territoire sont essentiels. Les artistes créeront leurs installations aux alentours du Centre Plugstreet 14-18
19.09 > 24.12 Exposition ‘Old Bill’ Comines-Warneton Auteur d’Old Bill, personnage emblématique aux énormes moustaches, le Lieutenant Bruce Bairnsfather stimule le moral des troupes tout au long de la Grande Guerre. Il dessine ses premières caricatures à Ploegsteert de décembre 1914 à avril 1915, avant d’être rapatrié en Angleterre.
L’Exposition temporaire ‘Old Bill’ retraçant le parcours du Lieutenant Bruce Bairnsfather et ses célèbres caricatures sera accessible au centre d’interprétation Plugstreet 14-18 experience. Chaque 1er Last Post Ploegsteert Comines-Warnetonvendredi Le Last Post résonne chaque 1er vendredi du du mois mois au Mémorial de Ploegsteert.
Chaque mois, une association locale ou internationale est mise à l’honneur.

Imprégnez-vous de l’ambiance d’un estaminet situé en plein coeur d’un cantonnement britannique durant la Première Guerre mondiale. Prenez place devant une tasse de thé et découvrez la vie des soldats à Armentières et sur le front de l’ouest. Sur l’air de Melle from dans la peau des Tommies, faites un saut d’une centaine d’années en passant la porte de ce lieu inoubliable.
11 et 12.10 La course à la mer Armentières Labellisé Mission du centenaire Reconstitution historique vivante d’un camp de guerre montrant les soldats dans leurs conditions de vie quotidiennes, rassemblant français, britanniques, allemands.

Circuit de randonnée de la ligne de front inscrit au Plan départemental des itinéraires de promenade et de randonnée et dans le schéma des ‘Chemins de la mémoire’ de la région Nord-Pas de calais. + Implantation de panneaux d’interprétation tout au long du parcours.

This programme is realized in conjunction with Armentières (France), Comines-Warneton and Mesen, ngo Flanders Peace Field, Peace Village, Volkstoerisme, Belgian Football Association KBVB, Football+ Foundation, KVK Westhoek, Island of Ireland Christmas Truce and Flanders Peace Field Project (IRL), UN Offi ce on Sport for Development and Peace, and UEFA.
