The Mass is very conversational. When we are praying, we are always praying to someone; when responding, to one or more persons.

Throughout the Mass, there are prayers which are proper to the laity, prayers which are proper to the priest and prayers which are proper to both. While you may be familiar with the prayers proper to the laity, and those of the laity with the priest, you may be less familiar with those which the priest silently prays during the Mass. Some of these prayers include:

Before the proclamation of the Gospel, while bowing before the altar: “Cleanse my heart and my lips, almighty God, that I may worthily proclaim your holy Gospel.”

After the proclamation of the Gospel, while kissing the book: “Through the words of the Gospel may our sins be wiped away.”

During the preparation of the gifts, at the altar, while mingling the water with the wine: “By the mystery of this water and wine may we come to share in the divinity of Christ who humbled himself to share in our humanity.”

After the presentation of the gifts, bowing profoundly before the altar: “With humble spirit and contrite heart may we be accepted by you, O Lord, and may our sacrifice in your sight this day be pleasing to you, Lord God.”

Immediately following the prayer above, while washing his hands: “Wash me, O Lord, from my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.”

VBS will be this Monday, August 7-Friday, August 11 and will run from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Friday, we will have Mass at 11 a.m., followed by a potluck lunch for the families of all of our participants. We will have a short program after Mass on Sunday, Aug 13, to kick-off our parish festival. Parish Festival - If you haven’t picked up your raffle tickets, please do so as soon as possible. They are located in the entry of the church. Please return your used and unused tickets by Sunday, August 6th. They can be dropped in the collection basket or at the parish office.

Religious Education—CCD Volunteers Needed We have a few teachers that have been giving their time for several years, and feel that they could use a break. This means starting in September, we have an urgent and immediate need for others to step up and help share the faith with our youth, particularly for our elementary school age students. If you think you might be being called, please contact Elizabeth Schwartz.

MASS AND ANOINTING IN HONOR OF ST. PEREGRINE, PATRON OF THOSE

AFFECTED BY CANCER All are invited to Mass and the Anointing of the Sick service on Wednesday, August 23, at 5:30 p.m. at St. Anthony Church, 2405 1st St N, St. Cloud. All are welcome, especially those affected by cancer or other illnesses and chronic conditions. This is an opportunity to bring families, friends and neighbors together in prayer, hope and gratitude for the gift of Life. Refreshments will be served in the Parish Center following Mass.
