Church reservations over the closure of places of worship in England have been heightened in recent days after a number of senior Government officials briefed journalists that the ending of the current lockdown on 2nd December, when Boris Johnson originally said it would end, was not a done deal. “The next seven days are crucial,” Health Minister Matt Hancock admitted. “We have to see the numbers of new cases falling before we can relax the current restrictions.” Church leaders fear any lengthening of the lockdown or tighter restrictions afterwards could threaten Christmas services. Such control over the public proved that there is a danger the state has learned that the British public aren’t worried too much about their liberties, Sir Desmond Swayne, MP for New Forest West, said, and that liberties “can be dispensed with conveniently when need arises” A major report into the conduct of former US Cardinal and Archbishop of Washington Theodore E. McCarrick has revealed that senior Church officials – including the last three popes – simply ignored allegations made by credible witnesses, including a priest, over his conduct for many decades. Although dogged by rumours of sexual impropriety, Theodore E. McCarrick was able to rise up the Catholic hierarchy based on personal contacts, protestations of his innocence and a lack of Church officials reporting and investigating accusations, the 450 page report found. The Curriculum and Assessment (Wales) Bill currently progressing through the Senedd will have a detrimental impact on Catholic schools and Catholic families across Wales. This Bill seeks to end the rights of parents to withdraw their children from Relationship and Sex Education and Religious Education. This is a vital right for parents, especially Catholic parents who can’t send their children to a Catholic school, as it ensures these sensitive subjects can be delivered in line with Church teaching. We are asking that people write to their Members of the Senedd to ask them to halt these changes. If you visit the website link below it will produce a template letter for your MSs. All you need to do is type in your name, address and email and click submit. http://catholiceducation.org.uk/welshparents

Our Blessed Mother explained to Saint

Catherine “how pleased she is when

people pray to her and how generous

she is with them; how she gives

special graces to those who ask; and

what a great joy she takes in granting

them.” A frame formed around Our

Lady, like an oval, bearing the

following words in gold letters: ‘O

Mary, conceived without sin, pray for

us who have recourse to you.’”
