Dear ex-CHRians,
Our inaugural CHR Alumni Committee consisting of 12
wonderful ex-CHRians have almost completed their two
year term of office. It is time for an AGM to nominate and
elect a new committee. We warmly encourage you to help
build on their work.
There will be an Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 16 Aug
2014 (Sat) in Christ Church Secondary School Drop-In-
Centre (DIC) at 2 pm. Sign up as an Ordinary Member of
CHR Alumni to participate in decision making, voting, etc. by
end of July, at least two weeks before the AGM. To join us,
visit the alumni website to download the form and mail the
completed form to Christ Church Secondary School. Let’s
work hand in hand to get more ex-CHRians into the family
network and support your alma mater for the
education of our next generation.
Please stay tune to Chralumni (official) Facebook for updates on the AGM.

There seems to be no link between the coming racial harmony celebra-
tion in school on 21 Jul and a visit to Kranji War Memorial on 4 Jul
2014 (Fri) by a
group of 30 UG
(uniformed group)
members led by
teachers, Ms Lee Shu
Fen, Ms Hafisah and
Mr Hock to attend the
annual Memorial Ceremony of the SAF
Officer Cadets School (OCS), Delta Wing.
But both have the same aim, i.e., to help our
young appreciate what the war heroes have sacrificed to defend our country, uphold the racial
harmony in Singapore which can easily be shattered by the conflicts at home and in the world.
Night Study Programme for 4E/5N, 4N & 4Ts- Tue & Thu, Wk 3-8
Night Study Programme commences from 6.pm to 8.30 pm every Tue and Thu in the school
canteen starting from week 3 till week 8. It aims to provide a safe environment for students’ self-
study and emphasize school’s commitment to help our students achieve their best. Students
need to be in full school uniform or PE attire. Thanks to Teachers who volunteer to stay back to
provide our students supervision and consultation.
‘ The spell-bounding sound of the bagpipes
played by CHR BB and GB invoked a strong
sense of respect, honour and deep reverence
for the war heroes’, Mr Hock, CHR teacher.
Student’s Reflection: ‘if these war heroes, who were not Singaporeans themselves, laid down their lives for the peace and freedom of this land, what more about us who are born and raised up here!’
Jasmine Heng from CHR NCDCC unit presented the wreath to the war heroes.
Our People Our Music (OPOM) Event @National Stadium_28Jun
It was a good exposure for CHR Chinese Orchestra to take part in this national event
where Singapore created two Guinness World Records: the largest Chinese Orchestra
Performance and the largest Chinese Drum Ensemble. This event that was graced by
our Prime Minister, Senior Minister and few dignitaries, was organized by Singapore
Chinese Orchestra (SCO) which brought together nearly 5,000 musicians and singers
from schools, clan associations and community clubs to put up a record breaking performance.
Dear Parents of graduating classes,
Let us work together to help your child to prepare for their national examinations in this last
lapse of revision. Let us be more vigilant to observe if they show signs of distress. Make time to
listen and talk to them. Encourage them to persevere so as to inculcate in them life-long values
of perseverance and resilience of character.
All students from 4E5 and their form teachers wear different ethnic constumes on 21 Jul to celebrate Racial Harmony Day!
