Dear Families of Chisholm,
At Chisholm Catholic Primary we are very much a community where we are working together to create a school of which we can be truly proud, providing the very best learning opportunities for our children.
On Friday 9th September, Chisholm will hold a formal Blessing of our new and refurbished learning facilities to recognise and celebrate the most recent developments to improve the learning facilities at Chisholm Catholic Primary School. The scope of the BER program included the extension and refurbishment of The Learning Centre, the building of new canteen facilities affectionately known as the Playground Plaza Café and the building of the wonderful multi purpose area in which we will be celebrating our liturgy.
Right Reverend Monsignor Robert McGuckin VG EV will represent Bishop Anthony Fisher OP, Bishop of Parramatta and will lead us in liturgy and bless our new facilities. Mrs Joy Short, Director of System Performance will represent Mr Gregory B. Whitby, Executive Director of Schools, Diocese of Parramatta. Father Arthur Cook will be integral to our celebration as Parish Priest of St Matthew’s Parish as will parents, teachers and students.
To make the day a celebration of the learning at Chisholm we will hold open classrooms following the liturgy. At this time parents are invited to join their children in their learning spaces to find out first hand about your child’s learning environment and achievements.
To conclude the day the children will also have the opportunity to share and celebrate the many talents of our children in the “Chisholm’s Got Talent” Grand Final.
Parents are warmly invited to join us on this most important day to celebrate this next stage of the development of Chisholm Catholic Primary School.
A timeline of the day is included in this newsletter. To help us plan for this day and catering for morning tea we ask you to return the tear off slip below indicating if you are able to attend.
We look forward to celebrating with you. God Bless Keiran Byrnes

FROM THE REC
Next Sunday (28th
August), Chisholm community prepares the 9.30 am Parish Mass at St Matthew’s. Our choir leads the singing and we also provide readers. Please join us for this Sunday Mass in our parish church.
Two years ago at our Anzac Day Celebration, the President of the RSL club presented Chisholm with a Lone Pine seedling in a tiny pot. This seedling had been grown from a seed from the original pine tree at Lone Pine at Gallipoli. It has been cherished and nurtured by the school community, and in particular, the Environment Leaders under the
supervision of Mrs. MacNamara. It had grown and was looking very healthy indeed. At the time of receiving it, it was not planted because the building of the MPA was in progress and also it was necessary to find the right spot that suited it. So imagine our sadness, when in week 2 of this term it disappeared. If anyone knows anything about it could you please advise the office.
No questions will be asked but the students would appreciate it being returned.

GARDEN DEVELOPMENT
Come and look at our new gardens that have been developed between the undercover area and the oval. These look fantastic and add to the presentation of Chisholm as a school of which we can be proud. I particularly thank Mr Emanuel and Mrs MacNamara for volunteering their time, skill and labour to assist in planting 120 plants, mulching and setting up irrigation lines. Your efforts are most appreciated.

SCHOOL START TIMES
Mornings can be very busy times during the school week with getting ready, making lunches, traffic etc.
Recently, an increasing number of students have been arriving to school late which is impacting on classes in two concerning ways.
Students are missing part of the first lesson of the day which affects their learning
The first lesson of the day is being interrupted by children arriving late.
To assist in delivering quality learning and teaching outcomes, parents are reminded that: Playground supervision begins at 8.15am Class starts at 8.45am Assemblies (Monday and Friday) begin at 8.45am
Thank you for your understanding and assistance in this matter.
