The “Chirpy Chicks” online program takes students on a journey through the life of the little penguin with a series of short videos and activities. Students are immersed in storytelling through our book What Animal am I? They delve into the day in the life of a little penguin, exploring features and adaptations with the use of taxidermies. Students are connected to these little wonders as they discover the many threats facing little penguins and feel empowered to take action to help protect our marine environment. Students will participate in a live interactive online video session with a Ranger to inspire them to become wildlife warriors. This one hour incursion is presented within individual classrooms. There are no costs to students or your school. The “Chirpy Chicks” online program takes students on a journey through the life of the little penguin with a series of short videos and activities. as Google Slides or PowerPoint. Simply follow the slides in order at a pace which suits your students and online classroom. This version is ideal for those that do not have printing access.

Habitat: The natural home of an animalColour and cut out the animals on the Where do they call home? Worksheet. On the following page, place the animals where you think they belong in the area of land, sand, water or sky. Think about what the animal might need to survive in the area it belongs. 8. Create Pledge Poster

Think about the ways you could reduce your plastic use at home to help us protect our little penguins.Discuss with your family how you can reduce your plastic use to protect penguins and make a pledge to change a behaviour so that you can become a penguin protector.Examples of a behaviour change could be:• Switching to reusable metal straws and saying NO! to single use plastic straws• Buying snacks such as potato chips in bullk rather than lots of little packets.• Using a reusable drink bottleCreate a poster with your pledge. The poster will include “I pledge to protect little penguins by ___________”. Get creative and decorate your poster!Poster will be used in the live chat with a Ranger.
