Currently on offer are power drills and hammer drills for use on concrete walls. While both get used occasionally, most people don’t get enough use out of them to excuse the high price tags. The catalog is set to expand in the future, but this should be enough to lower instances of hammer to thumb injuries and shoddily hung picture frames. Bulgogi is a grilled marinated beef dish thought to have originated from Goguryeo. It was originally a dish reserved for nobility. Participants will also have the chance to make “Japchae.” Japchae is made with sweet potato noodles stirred in sesame oil and soy sauce with vegetables and beef. The fee for the class is W12,000. A native Korean by birth, Evan started his career as a clothing designer in the crowded streets of Dongdaemun before making the jump to restaurateur four years ago with Two Broz. Inspired during his stay in Australia, Evan wanted to bring something new to Korea. Most of the ingredients, flavoring, and even the design of his burgers were intended for a foreign audience, so he was caught off guard when he discovered that the majority of his customers were Korean. While the flavors were familiar to foreigners, his opening timed perfectly with the greater Korean population’s discovery that Itaewon wasn’t ‘scary’ anymore and that there are a ton of great, authentic tastes to be had here.

Today, Two Broz attracts a healthy crowd of locals and foreigners alike, thanks to their pride in ingredients. They use only high-quality beef, real cheese and freshly baked buns. And Evan takes great pride in his burgers, so you’ll find him working there himself ensuring a quality product on most days. You can find say hi to Evan just a few blocks outside of Itaewon Station (exit 3), just before the Cheil Building.

Two Broz의 서정욱 사장은 다양한 재능만큼이나 재미있는 스토리로 가득찬 사람이다. 4년전 동대문의 붐비는 거리에서 의류 디자이너로 경력을 쌓은 그는 호주로 유학차 떠나게 되었는데 그곳에서 체류하는동안 사랑하게 된 수제햄버거를 한국에서 판매해 보기로 마음먹었다. 하지만 예상외로 외국 손님을 대상으로 한 수제버거 레스토랑은 한국인으로 붐비게 됐는데, 그 안에는 Two Broz의 높은 품질의 쇠고기, 두꺼운 치즈와 갓 구운 빵을 사용해 맛으로 승부를 걸었던 점이 내국인들을 사로잡기에 충분했던 것이다. 서정욱 사장은 자신의 햄버거에 큰 자부심을 갖고 있어 주중에도 자신이 직접 버거를 만든다. 투브로즈의 위치는 이태원역 3번출구를 나와 119 안전센터쪽으로 5분 정도 직진하면 제일기획빌딩에 닿기 전 만나볼 수 있다.

Designer Burgers from Evan Seo At Dracula’s Lounge in Haebangchon, Chef Jeni Pop is serving up the only Romanian cuisine for miles. Whether it’s the traditional cabbage roll dish Sarmale or the signature Romanian Mititei (grilled rolls of minced meat spiced with herbs and peppers), Chef Jeni is hard at work serving up some of the rarest cuisine in Seoul. It’s been nearly 30 years since the Romanian native arrived on Korean shores. Before K-pop and cell phones, Chef Jeni arrived in Korea with a degree in the culinary arts. “It was long [sic] time ago, but it was so much fun,” she responds thinking back, “[Korea] was very different then.” Jeni appeared on talk shows, Korean dramas, and radio shows. Nowadays, she’s returned to her roots in the culinary arts. Similar to the likes of In-N-Out and Starbucks, Dracula’s Lounge has it’s own secret menu. She offers the same thing to any patron, call ahead and I’ll see if I can make it; within limits of course. While Dracula’s Lounge is only a few months old, Chef Jeni brings years of experience to the kitchen. Soul Jam Live is a weekly event where professional artists and performers share their talents on one stage. The event started with a house band at Divine, but eventually expanded allowing for other stage performers to join in through personal invites or private auditions.
