Did you know that we have lots of saints in owho lived even before Jesus Christ did! The

Elijah (or Elias, in Greek) lived almost 900 years b

was born, but he did important things

for our Church even then!

Long ago, before Christ was born, lots of

people started to worship an idol godcalled Baal. Lots of times they wor-

shipped golden statues of Baal. God told

Elijah to tell the people not to do this

God wanted the people to worship Him,

the TRUE God.

So Elijah (or Elias) listened to God. He

told the people, If the Lord is God, fol-

low Him. But if he is Baal, then follow

him. We all know that the Lord is God!

Elijah did lots of things during his life. One time, Elijah had

the wilderness, because the King was after him. God sent ra

him there. Then he went to visit a poor widow. He asked heand she didnt have much left. Elijah told her that her buck

her bottle of oil would not run out. And it didnt! As much a

it, it would still be full!

Even though this saint lived so long ago, he still reminds us

us to follow Him only!
