Introduction: Hi everyone and welcome to my mid-month update. I

hope you are all keeping safe and well.

As I write it is still unclear as to when we can as a club meet up again,

in a safe social distancing event. Please keep an eye on your email,

our Facebook Discussion page and our website for the latest

information on this. We are planning behind the scenes, but I can’t

say anything until we have guidance from the lockdown rules. ,

which I However we all feel we are moving towards the day when we

can meet in some physical way.

But until then I have tried to put as much interesting items as I can

find I hope you enjoy.

My thanks to all who contribute to this newsletter including Colin Jessey, Tony Gunton and Alice Baggs.

I would ask you all, even if we cannot meet in person, to please remember to take a few photos of anything car

related, and jot down a few lines to add to our newsletter, and share with fellow members in our Facebook

group. Let's see all the inventive ways you have been using your social distancing time.

I hope you enjoy this newsletter.

Review of events in June

Virtual Treasure Hunt - I can confirm that 17

drivers took part in the Virtual Rally and

Treasure Hunt. Unfortunately, despite

valiant attempts some six broke down on

the way. However, eleven cars made it to

the finish. Some in record time, others

abandoning clues to meet the finish time.

Well I am pleased to report that the top three cars arrived ahead of time with remarkably close results as follows.

1st - 26 minutes ahead of time Alice and Michael, with a score of 19

2nd - 3 minutes ahead of time Clive and Wendy, with a score of 19

3rd - 7 minutes ahead of time Mandy and Neil, with a score of 18

Most scores were in the upper teens. Well done everyone who took part. It was a great evening and we hope to run this event for real when we can, so watch this space.

It has proved so popular that some members have asked for me to run this again on a dark winter evening, so we can all feel like it’s summer again!

Events June At present we have no other event planned

for June, but if the lock down rules are

altered, we intend to be quick off the mark

with a socially distancing event. So, watch

this space!

MOT Due?

I am sure for those who need an Mot on your MG, like me, are a little unsure when your MOT is due with all these lockdown rules and MOTs being extended.

The rule appears to be all MOTs due up to 23rd of June 2020 are being extended by six months, so you will not need to worry for six months.

If you want to check, follow the link below to check your renewal date. Be aware that MOTs are only being extended a week before they are due, so check again just before it is due.

Cancelled Events

Athelhampton House; Saturday 8th - Sunday 9th August 2020

Regretfully our friends at ‘Bournemouth & Poole MGOC 1020’ inform us that the event on Sunday 9th

August has been cancelled due to the uncertainty that social distance requirements could be

achieved.

As a Club, on Sunday 9th August we were allocated a prime position on the front lawns of this fine

historic 15th Century Elizabethan Tudor manor house, and were also invited to join ‘Bournemouth &

Poole’ on the Saturday (the day before) on a scenic run through the Dorset countryside, followed by

an evening meal and the opportunity to stay the night in a local country pub. However, we look

forward to August 2021 when this annual garden party and fete is to be re-organised, giving us the

option of a one or two day visit.
