49 - 009(NH4)2 [Mg4(H2O)18 (H2W12O42)]·10H2O, a New CompoundContaining Chains Formed by Magnesium and ParadodecahedralTungstate Ions. — The new title compound is prepared by reaction of(NH4)10[H2W12O42] with MgCl2 in aqueous solution (reflux→353 K). (NH4)2[Mg4(H2O)18 (H2W12O42)]·10H2O crystallizes in the monoclinic space groupP21/n with Z = 2. The skeleton of the paradodecatungstate ion [H2W12O42]10−
is basically the same as those in the known paradodecatungstates. It consistsof 12 interconnected WO6 octahedra. Both crystallographically independentMg atoms are octahedrally coordinated by six O atoms. One MgO6 octa-hedron shares one oxygen with a paradodecatungstate group and the otheroctahedron bridges two paradodecatungstate groups to form ∞1 [Mg4(H2O)18(H2W12O42)2−] chains along the b direction. — (LI, JING; WANG, RU-JI;TORARDI, CHARLIE C.; Acta Crystallogr., Sect.
