This non-endorsed course provides licenced electricians, final year apprentice electrical mechanics and electrical fitters with the training, skills and knowledge to visually inspect and test a low voltage electrical installation in compliance with the requirements of AS/NZS 3000.

COURSE CONTENTThe course covers the application of AS/NZS 3017 and the common test methods that are required to test a low voltage electrical installation, fault identification and documenting test results. COURSE DURATIONFull time 1 day (8 hours). COURSE REQUIREMENTSApplicants must hold a current WA Unrestricted Electrician’s or Training Licence or equivalent issued in an Australian State or Territory.

Fully enclosed shoes must be worn at all times in CET buildings. Safety boots/shoes must be worn when working in the workshop. Refer to the Code of Conduct on the College website www.cet.asn.au for details on dress code.

COURSE MATERIALSApplicants are required to obtain the following resources, available for purchase at both the Joondalup and Jandakot Campuses:

• AS/NZS 3000 (latest edition) • AS/NZS 3017 (latest edition)

CERTIFICATIONGraduates will be issued with a Certificate of Completion.

• This course is designed to provide electrical tradespersons with information on current procedures for Earth Fault Loop Impedance Testing and to update their skills in the use of various types of testers.

• Participants will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the operation of Loop Impedance Testers in accordance with AS/NZS Standards and be able to carry out an Earth Fault Loop Impedance test of an installation.
