Using standard modules, E³.WireWorks helps guide the design process and its

start-anywhere philosophy gives the designer freedom.

E³.WireWorks SchematicProvides electrical engineers with an easy-to-use solution for designing and

documenting electrical wiring designs from circuit diagrams to terminal plans and

BOMs (bills of material). Its integrated core database and online DRC provide a

consistent design approach to help eliminate errors, improve quality and reduce

design time.

E³.WireWorks PanelEnables engineers to design cabinets and panels with all associated parts and wiring.

It automatically calculates wire details and connection routes, enabling pre-assembly

of wires and cables. All necessary data is generated for production, labeling,

manufacturing cables, drilling, milling and producing reports.

E³.WireWorks Cable Includes all functionality of E³.WireWorks Schematic plus advanced design methods

such as hierarchical circuit design and cable assembly generation. It provides

engineers with the ability to design, develop and document electrical cable and

harness systems to be used in any manufacturing segment, such as special vehicles,

machinery, heavy equipment, and transportation.

Multi-view project file

Multi-view project files Core to E³.series’ philosophy is its object-oriented ECAD engine. This means all parts of your design are linked together. For example, if you have a schematic representation of a relay and that relay exists in a control panel, or if you draw a schematic of a cable and subsequently produce a cable documentation drawing, they are recognized and stored as the same parts in E³.WireWorks. This means that a change in one view, say the panel, will automatically update all other views, like the schematic.

Electrically-aware part LibraryIntelligent parts libraries help drive the design with automatic part selection and real-time design rule checks to prevent errors. E³.WireWorks can prevent the following errors which cost time and money:• Duplicate device names• Incorrect connector mating halves• Incorrect connector terminal

selection• Incorrect connector seal selection• Short circuits• Hybrid part selection• Missing master / slave references• Inaccurate bill of materials• Missing panel parts

E³.WireWorks offers many ways of speeding up your design processes with design

reuse and comprehensive variant and option functionality. Its fully open API makes

full project automation an attainable goal.

Sub-circuits and macrosStore sub-circuits and macros in the centrally located parts database. These circuits

can be specific sections of a design, single, or multiple pages. All users can use the

sub-circuits, which speeds up the design process and at the same time, encourages

consistency and accuracy. Having drawn the circuit once, why draw it again?

Variants and optionsWhen your product is based on a standard design and then tailored to meet the

needs of your customer, this may involve adding certain options or varying the

design to meet their requirements. Maybe certain options are dependent upon the

selection of other options. If this is true, then E³.WireWorks variants and options

can help. Built into the core tool, users can add all options and variations to their

projects, then using a series of selection boxes, completely modify their designs,

including all documentation, bills of materials and manufacturing output.

Application Programming Interface (API)For those companies looking to automate the production of their designs,

E³.WireWorks comes with a completely open and comprehensive API. Using

VBScript or Micorsoft.NET, anything done manually in E³.WireWorks can

be fully automated. Users can automate design creation, produce

company-specific reports, or interface E³.WireWorks to other systems,

such as ERP.

Multi-lingual supportCustomers needing to supply documentation in multiple languages can

make use of E³.WireWorks’ built-in language database. By selecting the

required language, all text within a project is converted, including device

functions and sheet borders.

Harnesses design and build If your designs require cable harnesses, then E³.WireWorks used in conjunction

with SolidWorks Routing will allow your EEs and MEs to work together to deliver

right-the-first-time, quality instructions for harness production.

SolidWorks RoutingSchematic and connection information from E³.WireWorks can be imported to

SolidWorks Routing. When used together, E³.WireWorks is used for detailed schematic

creation and SolidWorks does the job of harnessing in the 3D world. Collaboration

between the two allows designs to be carried out concurrently, greatly enhancing the

design experience. Neither E³.WireWorks nor SolidWorks interferes with the other’s

design focus; mechanical engineers and electrical engineers can work independently, but

when necessary, come together in a smooth and structured relationship.

Fluid design Does your product contain hydraulic, pneumatic or fluid detail? With E³.WireWorks’

Fluid, schematics are easily created and form part of the overall product design,

with direct integration to electrical systems. Equipment and inline devices such as

tees and valves can be easily laid out in E³.WireWorks’ schematic tool.

SolidWorks® P&IDFluid schematic data can be integrated with SolidWorks via the P&ID import utility,

where end equipment can be identified or placed directly in the assembly. Port

connectivity is highlighted and inline parts assistance guides the engineer and helps

prevent errors.

Design for manufacturingUltimately, the objective of all projects is to deliver accurate and concise instructions

for manufacturing and ongoing support and maintenance. E³.WireWorks delivers

consistent accurate manufacturing data which will always be aligned with your

designs; its philosophy from the outset is to prevent design errors. The design data

links dynamically with manufacturing data, E³.WireWorks has two manufacturing

modules, Formboard and aspects of the Panel module.

E³.WireWorks FormboardThis tool provides engineers with the ability to document harnesses in two

dimensions and create true working 1:1 scale nail board drawings (layups) ready

for manufacturing. The Formboard drawing is a view of the cables and harnesses

defined in the circuit diagram, including connector placement, wire segments,

coverings, cable protection, clips, pin and wire charts, etc.

E³.WireWorks Panel With accurate panel layout details you can take your designs straight to production,

avoiding costly mockups. Integrate your panel wiring with wire preparation machines

and supply drill and hole information to punching machines.

E³. View and E³.Redliner Complete the links to manufacturing with a dedicated free viewer and read native

E³.series projects for build instructions. Feed back design changes with E³.redliner,

an intelligent markup tool, that utilizes all standard E³.series functionality and

provides the design department with a configured change document showing

modification recommendations in the main E³.series project file.
