President’s Message, Our Agility Trial ended up being a success but not without a few glitches. We had very few workers besides the agility committee members this year and it was especially bad on Friday. Thanks to the help of the Stetson cheerleaders Saturday and Sunday ran smooth. Agility Trials take a lot of preparation and a lot of workers to make it run efficiently. I do want to thank the members that did show up and helped during the trial especially those that stayed Sunday afternoon to help tear down and put away the equipment, your help was Greatly Appreciated!!     President’s Message,

    Our Agility Trial ended up being a success but not without a few glitches. We had very few workers besides the agility committee members this year and it was especially bad on Friday. Thanks to the help of the Stetson cheerleaders Saturday and Sunday ran smooth. Agility Trials take a lot of preparation and a lot of workers to make it run efficiently.

    I do want to thank the members that did show up and helped during the trial especially those that stayed Sunday afternoon to help tear down and put away the equipment, your help was Greatly Appreciated!!

    There seems to be a theme…We are always shorthanded at our Trials. We have somewhere close to 200 members in Our Club and surely more can come help at our Events, whether it’s Obedience, Agility, Tracking, Scent Work or Dance. Our Club depends on volunteers.     Wins & BragsRenee Johnson and Debonair Kenzee Stand By Me “Kenzee” earned 2 novice legs at DeLand Dog Sports Barn Hunt trials January 2020.

    Jean Schaardt and GCh Ch RACH Princess Margarita, CDX, BN, PCD, RM4, RAE2, CGC “Daisy” my Havanese earned her RACH, Rally Champion, in December 2019. 

    Frank Horvath and “Zibber” my Dalmation mix, earned a 3rd Place Win in NOV JWW to earn his title in that class on 1/17/19. “Zibber” earned a 1st Place Win in OPEN JWW at OCOD's Agility Trials.

    Linda Bara-Weaver and “Sherlock”, as you know I always shoot for the best- puppy. “Sherlock” won Best in Show-Puppy.  He won all three Best of Breed and was at least 2nd in group all weekend. Had I not attended Susan’s classes I couldn’t have done it.

    Linda Bara-Weaver and “Penny” tried FastCat- earned her title at 27mph. Fastest American Fox— also only Am Fox!  Top 100 all dogs.  Now if she would only track!

    Debra Cail and "Gem" age 6.5 months old, competed in her very 1st trial, Barn Hunt, at Deland Dog Sports.  She earned her very 1st Title, RATN, Novice Barn Hunt on 1/4&5/2020. I'm so very proud of my young girl!

    Debra Cail and ”Tiki" earned 4 more "Q's" towards the 10 needed for her RATChX2, Master Champion X2.  Love my "Tiki" at the Barn Hunt, at Deland Dog Sports on 1/4&5/2020.

    Obedience Club of Daytona General Meeting Minutes January 13, 2020

    Meeting was called to order by: President Linda Hudak at 7:05pm

    Sign in sheet was passed around 30 members were present and 2 guests.

    Wins & brags were announced; will be posted in Chatterbarks by Joan (please send to Joan).

    Minutes of the last meeting were emailed and were not read at this meeting.

    Report of the secretary: We have 1 new member: Sharon McLachlan of Ormond Beach (household)has a Standard Poodle-

    Report of the Treasurer:

    December Income: $ 3,633.28

    December Expenses: $17,437.52

    Kathy mentioned Renee will be handling any expense checks for those that submit for reimbursement.

    Report of the Board of Directors:

    Item 1. by Linda Hudak~ Board meetings, going forward to be held out in the open as was demonstrated at this first meeting of 2020.

    Item 2. by Linda Hudak~ The Fast Cat trial scheduling is in the works for early February (8th & 9th) in conjunction with West Volusia Kennel Club.

    Item 3. by Linda Hudak-Our Newest Training Director is Diane Schultz; she will be working along side Ralph Orando.

    Old Business:

    Item 1: Renee asked again that all envelopes be labeled with a full name for her to know where to apply payments or credits for classes.

    New Business:

    Item 1. Training Director Diane Schultz introduced herself and presented to the meeting attendees a verbal overview of what the re-vamping of the Basic Training Classes will be like as the updating of the curriculum & training evolve.

    Item 2. Mark Avellino said it’s a go for the FCAT to run in conjunction with OCOD Agility trial over the 3 days and if any club members want to come out and help then they can run their dog for free. He is also looking into other area venues for future locations to hold FCAT trials.

    Item 3. Linda Hudak stated that Agility trial set up is Thursday 1/16/20 at 10am and she needs people to help Friday as well –all welcome to come help set up and stewards are always needed. Plus refreshments are needed for each day. Claire reminded Ralph to bring the club banner & equipment to do the announcements.

    Report of committees:

    1. Sandy Bailey spoke about her and Ralph Orlando attended ‘Veterans Court’ for Veterans followed by a ‘Lunch & Learn’ on Jan 3rd. OCOD was one of the topics- Ralph & Sandy demonstrated some training with Smokey & Esther. Sandy reminded the club members about the scholarship program OCOD has for Veterans & Active duty adopters. Sandy reports that she will have a student in March in one of her classes. If the need presents itself she and Ralph can create a Veterans Only class.

    2. Pat Mozden spoke on applications for classes needing follow-up because there are some that sign up for classes but do not turn in payment or paperwork. She noted the club would end up turning away students because classes appear full. Time limit

    should be within 1 week of application, payment should be received and that we should have a class waitlist.

    3. Ralph said the report of the Maintenance committee is that the toilets are fixed – there is no need to turn the water valves off anymore. Also a reminder to the membership if you see something that needs fixing or repair please let him know.

    4. Tracking Test reminder. Being held on Feb. 2nd. There will also be a Tracking Seminar in March.

    5. Lisa Liquori reported that her Agility Fundamentals class is full and that there is a wait list forming.

    **Linda Hudak presented Pat Mozden with a Plaque of Appreciation for serving as club president –

    At the February meeting changes to the By-Laws and Standing Rules will be discussed. Some changes are “housekeeping” & some are to bring into line so they match. Others are changes that need updating. Voting will take place in March.

    I understand that my participation in any of the activities is not without risks such as tripping, falling , getting knocked down, and jumped on, bitten, scratched, etc. I further understand that due to the way dogs interact with one another, cuts or scratches can occur to me or my dog during play or training with other dogs.

    I am responsible for having my dog securely leashed and under control while entering and exiting the building and during any and all breaks taken during the time I am at the building training center.

    I agree to disclose to the staff, instructors and assistants of the Obedience club of Daytona, Inc. any triggers or sensitivities that may provoke fear or aggression in my dog. I understand that attending class or private training does not guarantee that my dog will not exhibit problematic behavior in the future.

    I will not hold OCOD, Inc Board Members, Instructors or Members or the Property Owners responsible for any injuries or misfortunes (to or by me or my dog) while training or any other work, should they occur.

    I hereby release and agree to save and hold harmless and indemnified OCOD, Inc. any Board Member, Instruc-tors or Members or Property Owners from any and all liability, claims, suits, actions, loss, illness, injury or damage of any nature or kind, or for any liability or injury I may sustain or which may be caused in any way by me and my dog(s).

    My signature also signifies that my dog(s) are in good health, and have received the necessary vaccinations (or equivalent alternatives) as agreed upon my veterinarian (copy attached). I agree to clean up after my dog or be asked to leave the premises and forfeit any classes and moneys.

The Obedi-ence club of Daytona reserves the right, and option of refusing training to any dog or handler. This is to include classes, ring use, building use, and/or any club event such as seminars, tests, trials and matches. Any dog which becomes ag-gressive or disruptive towards other dogs or people will be dismissed. The training Directors, at his/her discretion, re-serves the right to dismiss any dog from class without refund. If the dog is not under control and/or presents a danger to others, you will be dismissed from classes. Such a dog or handler may not attend any function leased to another club in the club building with written consent from OCOD Training Director or Board. A dog or handler may be dismissed “AT WILL”.

    In the event that OCOD, Inc. should bring suit or be sued because of any breach or violation of any rules or regulations of the Club, City, county or for any other reason based upon the action of the Member or for other relief against Member, declaratory or otherwise, or should OCOD, Inc. prevail in any such suit or should such suit be settled in favor OCOD, Inc. Member agrees to pay OCOD, Inc. all costs, expenses and reasonable attorney’s fees that OCOD, Inc. may have in-curred in connection therewith, which shall be deemed to have accrued on the commencement of such suit and shall be enforceable whether or not suit is prosecuted to judgement.

    I understand that public relations is an important part of OCOD. On behalf of myself, my heirs, personal representatives and executors, I allow OCOD to use any photograph or video taken of me for use in public relations efforts.
