DAY TWO – Charleston and Middleton Place We begin the day with a narrated cruise across Charleston Harbor to historic Fort Sumter, site of the first shot of the American Civil War. Continue to Middleton Place Plantation, home of Henry Middleton, President of the First Continental Congress. This National Historic Landmark features a richly decorated home and 65 acres of meticu- lously designed gardens. Enjoy a taste of the Old South with a tradi- tional Low Country Plantation lunch before a guided tour of Charleston, considered by many to be one of the most beautiful cities in America. Breakfast and lunch DAY THREE – Charleston to Jekyll Island, Georgia This morning depart for one of “Georgia’s Golden Isles,” Jekyll Island with the beautiful oak trees, Spanish moss and palmetto. On the way, we visit Beaufort, known for its southern hospitality, and enjoy the sce- nic waterfront charm, quaint shops and historic homes. Late this after- noon we arrive at the romantic Victorian-style Jekyll Island Club Hotel, our home for the next two nights.
