Charles F. Dolan School of Business Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program Overview The Dolan MBA program is designed to empower and prepare candidates to face the ever-changing corporate landscape with the diverse skills required for leadership. The program provides a broad foundation of knowledge and the opportunity for professionals to concentrate in a functional area of business. Candidates from all backgrounds and academic concentrations are encouraged to apply. With the Dolan MBA, students can pursue a variety of careers including corporate management, entrepreneurial ventures, positions with government and non-profit organizations and consulting. Candidates can begin the MBA program in the summer, fall, or spring semester. The program is flexible and can be completed in one year’s time (full-time), over two years (part- time), or customized to be self-paced. Course of Study A total of 36 credit hours of graduate coursework are necessary for completion of the MBA program. Candidates who lack a sufficient business related academic background may be required to complete up to 18 credits of Core Courses. MBA coursework is organized as follows: Coursework (18 Credits) Admitted students may waive selected core courses on the basis of previous coursework (taken within the past five years with a final grade of a B or higher), or with relevant work experience when combined with previous coursework. Core courses are required to be taken before corresponding breadth and concentration courses: Introduction to Accounting Principles of Finance Organizational Behavior Marketing Management Business Operations Applied Business Statistics Breadth Modules (21 Credits) The required courses contained in each of the four breath modules cover the most relevant discipline knowledge to foster managerial decision-making. Module 1 – Decision Metrics Accounting Information for Decision-Making Module 2 – Insights and Analysis Information Systems and Database Management Customer Value Module 3 – Ethical Leadership Legal and Ethical Environment of Business Leadership Module 4 – Strategic Decision-Making Shareholder Value Global Competitive Strategy Concentration Courses (12 Credits) Accounting (optional specialization: Taxation) Finance Information Systems & Business Analytics Management (optional specializations: 1) Strategic Human Resources, 2) Global Strategy, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship) Marketing (optional specialization: Marketing Analytics) Business Elective (3 Credits) Admission Requirements Applicants for a master’s degree must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university (or the international equivalent). Applicants are required to meet all program prerequisites, which include the following undergraduate courses: College-level Mathematics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Statistics. Admission Process Applications to the graduate program are accepted on a rolling basis and require the following: A completed online graduate application at ga.fairfield.edu/apply A non-refundable $60 application fee • A professional resume • A personal statement approximately one page including reasons for pursuing the program and career objectives • Official transcripts from all universities and colleges attended. (All foreign transcripts must be evaluated by an approved evaluating service) • Two letters of recommendation • Official score for the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). The Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) can be substituted for the GMAT. For information regarding our GMAT/GRE waiver policy, please contact Rev.
