CHARITY UNITY FRATERNITY PATRIOTISM THE NEXT COUNCIL MEETING WILL BE MONDAY, MAY 12, 2014 @ 7:00 PM, PIUS X CENTER Dear Brother Knight, Worthy Financial Secretary Phil Capone has advised that Brother Sam Grimone and Brother Bob Gardner have attained Honorary membership with the Knights of Columbus. Congratulations gentlemen and thank you for your many years of service! Thank you! Thank you to all the Brother Knights that have contributed to the success of our council. There are many ways members have helped the council move forward; from participating with Fund Raising Committee activities, as a council office and with the many volunteer hours noted on the annual fraternal survey, to mention just a few. We have a very strong foundation to build on to keep moving forward! Our final activity to fulfill our Service Programs for Star Council is being planned for some time in June. Council 599 plans to hold an end of year cookout for the children, their family members and the staff of St. Bernard’s School, hopefully around the final week of the school year. Please look for an announcement on the council website as well as the June newsletter! Volunteers will be needed! Fraternally, Bill McIntyre, Grand Knight Vivat Jesus!

APRIL 6, 2014 – MASSENA COUNCIL

Three main events for the Northern Conference (increased attendance is needed at all):

- July 26/27 Isle La Motte Pilgrimage

- August 3 – Prayer Rally in Ogdensburg

- September 13 – Chapter Ball in Tupper Lake

Due to scheduling issue, there will not be a Bishop’s Burse dinner this year. Plan is to present Bishop with

donations at the Isle La Motte Pilgrimage.

Increase in conference dues from $30 to $50.

Still money available for Catholic School Matching Funds program.

There was a very low attendance at the Conference meeting (<25). Need to increase attendance of council

officers.

C&B results were better than previous year. Books for coming year will be distributed as soon as possible.

Recipients of Chapter Ball donations this year will be Champlain Valley Rite to Life and Watertown Rite to Life

sharing 1/3, St. Augustine Academy in Carthage will receive 1/3 and Camp Guggenheim will receive 1/3.

Much discussion around the soccer and free throw competitions. Lack of planning the dates for Conference

champions. GK McIntyre has been selected to chair a committee to work out scheduling issues. Will be working

with brothers from Massena council as well as others throughout the conference.

There will no longer be a drawing for the Chapter based on the NY Lottery. It has been determined to be illegal.

A raffle will be held in its place (500 tickets at $10 each).

A new district map has been established for the conference. All districts will have a District Deputy for the

coming year. GK McIntyre will be assuming the DD position for the district consisting of the Bloomingdale,

Indian Lake, Port Henry, Saranac Lake, Ticonderoga and Tupper Lake councils.

Catholic Men’s Group – Saturday, May 3rd @ 8:00 AM

Please join Fr. Mark Reilly and men of our parishes on Saturday, May 3rd

for a time of fellowship, prayer, and discussion. Mass in St. Bernard's Chapel at 8 a.m. will be followed by coffee and refreshments, some discussion and prayer. Please contact Fr. Mark Reilly with any questions, or just show up!

To those that have not done so, please promptly send in your dues to FS Phil Capone and avoid having to receive ANOTHER Notice! Thank you!

Please be sure to visit the council website for up-to-date Information. Updates are frequently made

when news/information becomes available. This is a great resource for our council!

Please pass along any suggestions and ideas to the grand knight or the council Webmaster, Don Jones.
