1. I registered for the D & T Part 2 AQ because after completing Part 1 and enjoying it, I wanted to complete my Part 2. Apparently there is a need for technology teachers in our school and he taught I would be a good fit. Also, my social science department head tried to switch my Foods classes into tech foods so I can get a full contract but you need to be qualified in Technology for that to happen.

2. I hope to be able to teach tech courses with confidence in what I am teaching. I would like to

know my way around the technology world and would like to learn every aspect behind what is offered in the tech field.

3. I taught a BTT 1O course which consisted of a lot of computers. Also, I taught all the Food and Nutrition courses at Earl of March and I am now at Ridgemont H.S teaching the same which is very similar to the hospitality course offered under tech. At Ridgemont H.S the principal is looking into hopefully adding a focus group under foods.

4. I have not taught any Science and Tech, Design and Tech or Tech design before.

5. At the moment there are 3 sections of Foods, 2 section of Parenting and 2 section of Individual and Family courses available. However, I teach 3 sections of foods this semester.

6. I myself and a hands on learner; I think the reason I enjoy teaching courses such as foods and parenting is because they are open classes and do not always have to be on the straight line. I’m tend not to be a straight lined person, I like being able to stray and as long as the students are learning what needs to be learning, should it really matter a 100% on how they got to learn it. I think differentiated learning is what is needed in Open courses.

7. After teaching BTT 1O I am pretty confident in my abilities on the computer. I am great with Microsoft Office and am able to get by with the skills I have acquired over my professional career. Also, I went to Nipissing University for teachers college and we were involved in the Computer Technology program, we had to buy a computer and we were on them all the time.

8. I have more experience in hands-on technology with the foods and computers. I have not been in an actual shop since grade 8 (we don’t have to say how long ago that was) however, I have been offered a few lessons at my school since the tech department head wanted me to take this course.

9. I am really interested in the Lego Robotic that you were speaking about, I think it sounds interesting. Also, I would like to have an opportunity to be in the shop and have some hands on design time.

10. In my spare time I like to spend time with my family, I have 3 nieces which I love to be with. The oldest is 11 and the twins are 5. I also enjoy traveling and going to school, I think it is good to challenge myself. So in the summer I take one course for July and then travel all of August… That way I feel it is justified.

11. Extra Info: Since I have began teaching I have taken many courses. I started off as an elementary teacher and was not exactly happy, so I made the switch to secondary. I began with 1 teachable in Senior Social Sciences, which is what got me my position at Earl originally. I then took my I intermediate Family Studies. I also have taken my Special Education Part 1 and 2, with the hopes to take my specialist this summer.

12. I also just purchased and moved into my new condo, so I have been decorating and working on that the last few weeks and think it will take me a few more months.
