The Challenges the Hotel Industry is Facing in Regards to Data and
Payment Security
● [Christian] Payment Data Security in the hospitality industry has become immensely complex. Technology, PCI and Card Brand rule changes, and new system threats and vulnerabilities that are constantly evolving make choosing the right security strategy challenging.
● [Allen] Payment security, speed and efficiency are imperative to ensuring enhanced guest experiences. However, taking the card away to process payment is not secure, fast or efficient. Bringing payment to the consumer will offer guests these things and more.
● [Motti] - The challenges today for any industry, are mainly around organized crime rings with financial or espionage motives, looking to obtain data sets containing payment and client information. In addition, hoteliers are dealing with changing needs, such as card not present transactions, mobile payments, multi systems (not always owned by the same entity) and more. With the ever growing need for hotels to maintain their relationships with their guests and build trust to maintain their branding, this becomes a very difficult task, using older technologies and processes

Hotel System Complexity
• Most modern PMS have
many reservation interfaces
to accept bookings from
many channels
• Many hotels also have
restaurant, retail, and other
POS concepts on property
that feed data to the PMS
• Back Office processes and
systems are often
overlooked when
considering the PCI
remediation
• Deploying tokenization to
all interfaces can be
challenging due to cost and
partner limitations
