Adapting and Submitting Your PowerPoint WorkbookChanges you need to make to a PowerPointWorkbook before turning it in to Ms. Reed.

The Basics: MLA Heading Like anything else in any other class, you need your MLA

style heading.

For us, this will go on the TITLE PAGE when in PowerPoint or the top left-hand corner when in Word or the Wiki Pages.

The MLA Heading Consists of:

Name

Teacher Name (Ms. Reed)

Class/Period (English 1P or 1H or 3P/Period #)

Date (written out)

To see how, go to the next page

The Basics: MLA Heading

OR Use the INSERT tab to add a text box

Click and drag to create the box.

Click and drag to create the box.

The Techie: Renaming the File All files returned to Ms. Reed via email or the wiki

MUST follow the following naming conventions:

Period-Name-Assignment

0-Ariel Triton-Mind Puzzles

To do this either select SAVE AS from the OFFICE button and rename it. This will create two files.

To have only one file, save and close the file. Go to the U: Drive select ORGANIZE and then RENAME.

The Techie: Removing Instructional Pages

I know the instructions for each activity, so when work is turned in, those pages are extra space that I do not need to see.

You will delete any slide that is instructions on how to complete the work, but leave all pages that are the actual work.

To delete, click the THUMBNAIL of the slide (it will be highlighted in orange) and press the DELETE key.

The English: Adding Reflection, Rubric, or Self Grade Pages

Research has found a major link in improved performance and self-evaluation. Basically the better you recognize how you are doing and where you are with your skills and what you might do differently next time, the faster and more you improve.

There will be some common reflection pages as we start to write more, while other assignments will have specific reflection pages.

The English: Adding Reflection Pages

Once opened, copy the page:

simply click on the THUMBNAIL and press CTRL+C

or right click and COPY

or from the HOME tab (left hand corner) in the CLIPBOARD menu click COPY

Now, simply return to your workbook, click between where you want to add the slide (a blinking orange line will appear) and PASTE:

CTRL+V or right click and PASTE or HOME tab PASTE

If the page is a common page, you will have a copy saved to your U: Drive that you can pull up and insert.

Other or assignment specific pages can be OPENED from the wiki the day they are needed.

Now the file is ready. Next you must submit it.

The directions will vary by whether you are turning the work in to be viewed by everyone or just Ms. Reed.

Generally, you first step will always be the same: UPLOAD to your PORTFOLIO FOLDER.

Log into the Wiki If you received an email

invitation, follow the LINK, create a password and then log in.

If you did not receive an email invitation, you must REQUEST ACCESS. You will have to wait until Ms. Reed accepts and send the email.

IF you could not make an email account, Ms. Reed will have to create a wiki account for you (which means you cannot change your profile picture or change your password…it is the account type usually used by grade schoolers).

Getting to the Student Center and your Portfolio Folder

To get to your PORTFOLIO, there are many paths.1) You can use the

PAGES and FILES tab to view all the folders that make up the Wiki

2) You can use the NAVIGATOR to scroll back to HOME and then to STUDENT CENTER

3) You can search the workspace for your name and the folder should appear (Last, First).

Uploading You are only allowed to UPLOAD to certain

folders, so if you cannot upload, you might not be in the right spot.

If you cannot see your folder, Ms. Reed has not granted you permission to be an EDITOR for it yet. Let her know and she will fix it for you. Refresh your browser when she lets you know she has changed the permission.

Once in your folder click the UPLOAD button, a file finder window will appear. Select the file and click upload. Please upload as a FILE unless told to upload as a PAGE (We will discuss those differences later.)
