The July newsletter marked the one year anniversary of the creation of the Chandler Creek Chronicle! It’s hard to believe how fast time flies (we even missed this important milestone). The Chandler Creek HOA has really enjoyed having the newsletter as an avenue for sharing upcoming events with homeowners, news from the Chandler Creek Multiple Utility District (MUD), recognizing homeowners for their creativity for holiday yard decorations and yards of the month, and conveying information about construction projects that impact our community. We would love to hear suggestions from our residents for suggestions to improve the community. Please feel free to send your written articles, local news, or important information to our email address at [email protected]. Due to space constraints, we cannot promise that every submission will be able to be in every newsletter, but we will do our very best to accommodate articles received from the community!

We also want your feedback about that you like or may not like about the newsletter. We have received mostly positive feedback, but we have heard from a few residents that tell us there is rarely anything useful in the newsletter. While we don’t necessarily agree, we do want to make sure that the newsletter is useful. We also have

Hardly a day goes by that Alliance Association Management does not receive phone calls or emails from Chandler Creek residents. While many calls (or emails) can be handled and resolved quickly, others require the involvement of other personnel (either from Alliance or from the Board). Unfortunately, some slip through the cracks and are not resolved at all.

This is why we would like your feedback. If you have recently contacted Alliance about some issue and you were not completely satisfied with the response you received or the timeliness of that response, we would like to know. In order to make sure that our management company is doing its job regarding homeowners’ calls, we need to know when they fall short.

a few residents that still don’t realize that the newsletter is mailed out each month.

We also want to take a moment to address the HOA’s Facebook page. The Facebook page was created as a means for the HOA to communicate with those residents who use social media. It is not the HOA’s only means of communicating with homeowners, but rather another avenue. While residents are able to post messages to the HOA’s Facebook page, it is monitored by administrators. From time to time, posts made by residents may be removed if the Facebook page is not the appropriate avenue for their message (ex: complaints about neighbors, dispute of a covenant violation, etc.). As a reminder, the HOA’s Facebook page is not monitored by the management company so items such as complaints, disputes, and/or questions about your HOA account should not be posted to the Facebook page. The management company is the proper venue for complaints, disputes and/or questions about your HOA account.

We also want to thank Chandler Creek residents for adhering to the “no fireworks” requirement of the deed restrictions.

Thanks! The HOA Executive Committee & Directors

Happy Birthday, Chandler Creek Chronicle!

We would also like to hear about those instances when they do things right as well. If you have had a positive experience, please let us know that as well.

The management company works for the HOA and unless we know how our homeowner’s feel, we can’t address issues, whether positive or negative.

If you wish to share an experience or you have an outstanding concern that has yet to be resolved, please send an email to [email protected]. Emails sent to this address go directly to a member of the Board who will make sure you receive a response.

Kim's Cooking CornerChicken & Chip LollipopsWow! School starts later this month! Where has summer gone

to? This recipe is an easy one to make ahead, can be suited to any taste by using different chip flavors, and is one kids are likely to help with.

INGREDIENTS• 4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves - cut into 1/2 inch

cubes • 1 egg • 2 tablespoons milk • 2 cups crushed potato chips • lollipop sticks from a craft or party store

DIRECTIONSPreheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a

baking sheet.Crush potato chips onto a plate. In a large bowl, whisk

together egg and milk. Dip the chicken cubes into the egg mixture, then coat well with potato chips. Spread the nuggets onto the baking sheet.

Bake for 10 minutes. Turn nuggets over, and bake for 10 minutes more, until golden brown. Remove baking sheet from oven, and insert a lollipop stick into each nugget.

To keep them warm until lunch time, I heat them up and wrap them in foil and slide them down into a thermos so they can be taken out at lunch time and enjoyed. I usually serve them with baby carrots, raw broccoli, and celery sticks and ranch dressing cups. Kids enjoy the dipping and the extra dose of veggies is great too!

As a parent, there’s no doubt that back-to-school season requires a lot of effort to get your kids all set for the challenges of the classroom. But it’s also an important time to consider your child’s health, says Daniel Howard, M.D., a pediatrician with The Austin Diagnostic Clinic (ADC).

“From making sure all of the proper vaccinations have been administered on schedule, to getting their kids back on ‘school year’ sleep schedules, health is obviously a huge consideration for parents with school-age children,” Dr. Howard says.• Vaccinations 101. Children should receive a variety of vaccinations

and booster shots to prevent them from getting many serious and highly contagious diseases.

• Hearing and vision tests. Consider getting your child’s hearing and vision tested before they begin school to prevent learning challenges in the classroom.

• Health information. Parents should be prepared to provide schools with a list of emergency contact information that includes telephone numbers for parents, close family, pediatrician, and dentist.

• Diet and sleep. Healthy eating is a critical part of a child’s physical

and mental development and can help curb the risk of childhood obesity. Sleep is also essential—kids should get between eight to 11 hours per day, depending on their age.

Daniel Howard, M.D., is a pediatrician for The Austin Diagnostic Clinic, a

multi-specialty clinic with physicians representing 21medical specialties at more than six locations throughout Austin and Central Texas. Dr. Howard sees patients at the ADC Cedar Bend, at 2400 Cedar Bend Drive. For more

information, visit www.adclinic.com or call 512-901-4016. To download an electronic version of
