Continuing Care Meetings:
Just about everyone at Willingway loves a good service opportunity and in 2015, we gave a grand total of $101,314.16 and countless volunteer hours to four nonprofit community partners in Statesboro: the Alzheimer’s Association; the Boys and Girls Club of Bulloch County; Georgia Southern’s Center for Addiction Recovery; and the Averitt Center for the Arts. Our fellow citizens recently honored our efforts, voting Willingway “Most Fabulous Business that Gives Back to the Community” in Statesboro Magazine’s 2016 Fabulist issue. Our CEO, Barbara Reid, commented that “... the people of Statesboro have taken notice of our concerted efforts to be a great neighbor and make sure we are a visible and active part of the community right here in our own backyard.”
Chandelier is a publication of Willingway for alumni, family, friends and addiction professionals.
Dr. Shawn visits the White HouseWillingway congratulates Medical Director Dr. Shawn Williams on a recent contribution to our physician training program. The American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM) has approved his application to recognize Willingway as a certified facility to host Addiction Medicine Fellowships. Even though doctors have come through our fellowship program since as early as 1981, it was not formally recognized by ABAM until now. Willingway joins the ranks of esteemed fellowship programs at institutions such as the Medical College of Georgia, the Betty Ford Center and Boston and Yale Universities. This was by no means a small undertaking for Dr. Shawn, as the application process was meticulously detailed and many months-long. “The accreditation of the Willingway Fellowship Program is the culmination of twenty-five years of our work within the field of physician addiction education,” says Dr. Shawn. “This honor bestowed upon our program affords us a national voice. It also assures our ability to educate physicians in the field of addiction medicine for generations to come.” Dr. Shawn is pictured above at the White House with Dr. Paul Seale, Director of Research at Mercer University. The pair worked closely together on developing some of the ABAM application content, and the Mercer University School of Medicine is a partner institution in Willingway’s Addiction Medicine Fellowship program.
