It was a great celebration of Mr. Scott’s leadership and service on the Board of Trustees and to the community. A large number of family members, friends, and elected officials were on hand to pay tribute to Mr. Scott. Last week we were host to the NCBAA Mid-Manager Leadership Institute, the Thomas Lakin Institute for Mentored Leadership and the Presidents’ Roundtable. We have received several letters of appreciation and I thought I’d share a few with you. “Thank you so much for your support of the Thomas Lakin Institute for Mentored Leadership and the NCBAA mid-level Administrator’s Professional Development Institute. Your staff was superb! We cannot say enough about Dr. Bulger and her commitment. Yet again, our success is due to the Wayne County Community College District.” - Charlene Dukes-Prince George Community College “Thank you so much for transporting me to the airport during my visit to your District office. It has been such a pleasure to meet you and others of the Wayne County Community College District. My experience with every individual associated with the District was a professional and pleasant one. Thank you so much for everything.” - Jennifer Wimbish– Dallas County Community College District

The Dental Hygiene Program in partnership with the Northwest and Western campuses and numerous healthcare, professional and educational business sponsors, hosted the Student American Dental Hygiene Association and the Michigan Association of Dental Hygiene Educators Annual Statewide Conference at the Western Campus. This is an annual conference that provides both dental hygiene educators and students with educational sessions, educational methodology coursework, continuing education and an exhibitor showcase with 30 vendors displaying educational and new oral hygiene products and equipment. The invited speakers included faculty from the University of Missouri Kansas City, Philips Sonicare and Pamela Quinones, President of the American Dental Hygiene Association. More than 650 individuals attended this annual conference.

The School of Continuing Education in partnership with the St. John Providence Breast Care Program presented a Breast Cancer Awareness Seminar at the Downtown Campus. More than 250 high school students were informed about the importance of living healthy life styles and the risk factors of breast cancer.
