CHANAKYA NEETI

Page 2: Chanakya neeti

Chanakya was an ancient teacher / trainer from India who transformed one of his students “Chandragupta Maurya” as a great king from scratch.

Chanakya had also played the role of a strategic leader to ensure defeat of Alexander when the latter had attacked India.

Chanakya has shared his knowledge and philosophies through his huge literatures which mainly include thebooks popularly known as “Chanakya Niti” and“Kautilya’s Arthashastra”.

Page 3: Chanakya neeti

Chanakya Neeti’s particularly the social ethics deals with several aspects like parenting, child rearing, servants, friendship love ,responsibilities of teachers, education, wisdom and social responsibilities.

Page 4: Chanakya neeti

There are many a bondage but that of love is entirely different. The black-bee which penetrates thoughts even wood gets inertly enclosed in th efold of the lotus flowers.

Page 5: Chanakya neeti

INDIVIDUAL God abode is not the idols of wood

stone or earth. He dwells only in feelings.

Anger is death, lust is Vaitarani (the river of hell), knowledge is the cow of plenty and satisfaction is (the divine orchard) Nandanvan.

Page 6: Chanakya neeti

A person should not be too honest. Straight trees are cut first.

Once you start working on something, don’t be afraid and don’t abandon it. People who work sincerely are the happiest.

Page 7: Chanakya neeti

As soon as fear approaches near, attack and destroy it.

Treat your kid like a darling for the first five years, For next five year, scold them. By the time they turn sixteen, treat them like a friend.

Education is the best friend. An educated person is respected everywhere. Education beats the beauty and youth.

Page 8: Chanakya neeti

Before you start work, always ask yourself 3 questions

- Why I am doing it? - What the results might be? - Will I be successful ?

Only when you find satisfactory answers, go ahead.

NEETI FOR PRAYER

Devotion in faith, sweetness in voice, alacrity in alms – giving guilelessness in relation with friends, humility for guru, depth in the character, piety in behaviour, regard for merit, erudition in scriptural knowledge, beauty in appearance and belief in god are your attributes

God dwells in our bodies life fragrance in flowers, oil in oil seeds, fire in wood ghee in milk, jaggery in the sugarcane. The wise should understand this.

NEETI FOR DHARM All riches, vitality, life and body are

fickle and fey : Only dharma is constant and ever lasting,

Constantly bound by death, all power and pelf are fey. Hence one should adhere to one’s dharma which is everlasting.

CONSEQUENCE OF AN ACTION Like a calf finds the mother – cow even

if there be thousands of cows, so the consequence of an action searches its doer unerringly i.e. One cant escape the consequence of an action do whatever one may.

Man himself does action and himself bears its consequences. Himself he roams about in the world and himself gets liberated from this cycle of birth and death.

Page 12: Chanakya neeti

Man is free to act but he must bear its consequences, whether good or bad. It is only his balance sheet of the action and its consequence has been set at naught that he become liberated. Hence to achieve this liberation is also well within the control of man.

LUCK OR FATE Age, profession , financial status, level

of education and death – these five basic parameters of human life are ordained when the being is in the embryonic form.

NEETI FOR ORGANIZATION

Wealth will slip away from the foolish person, who continuously consults the stars, for wealth is the star of wealth; what will the stars do ?

Capable men will certainly secure wealth at least after hundred trails.

Page 15: Chanakya neeti

A trainable person is the one with the following qualities,

- Desire to learn - Effective listening - Ability to reflect - Ability to reject false views - Intentness on truth not on any person

Page 16: Chanakya neeti

THE 4 DIPLOMATIC PRINCIPLES SAMA – CONCILIATION DANA – OFFER GIFTS BHEDA – CAUSE DISSENSION DANDA - PUNISHMENT

Page 17: Chanakya neeti

After ascertaining the relative strength or weakness of powers, place, time, revolts in rear, losses, expenses, gains & troubles, of himself and of the enemy, the conqueror should march.

Page 18: Chanakya neeti

NEETI FOR SOCIETY No gift is better than the gift of cereal and

water, no date is better than Dwadashi, no mantra is greater than gayatri mantra and no god is better than mother.

The one who produces you, the one who gets your Upanayan ceremony performed, the one who gives you education, the one who gives you food and the one who protects you from all sort of danger – these five persons deserves the status of father.

NEETI FOR GOOD COMPANY

Like fish, tortoise and bird rear up their infants by looking, caring and touching them respectively, so does good company with respect to human being.

A good company generates the noble elements in the nature of the wicked but a bad or wicked company does not generate wickedness in the noble person. It is only the soil which accepts the fragrance of the flowers and not the fragrance, which refuses to accept the odour of the soil

NEETI FOR POWER Control over the senses, which are motivated by

training in the science, should be secured by giving up lust, anger, greed, pride, arrogance and overexcitement.

If the king is energetic, his subjects will be equally energetic. If he is slack, his subjects will also be lazy, thereby eating into his wealth.

Success is threefold-that attainable by the power of counsel is success by counsel, that attainable by power of might is success by might, that attainable by power of energy is success by energy.

Page 21: Chanakya neeti

NEETI FOR COMPETITION “The enemies should not come to

know of his secrets; he should, however, find out the weakness of the enemy. He should conceal as a tortoise does his limbs, any limb of his own that may have become exposed.’’

Time comes but once to a man waiting for an opportunity; that time is difficult for that man to get again when he wants to do his work.

Page 22: Chanakya neeti

SUTRA FROM CHANAKYA Leading - In the happiness of his people

lies the happiness of the leader. In their welfare is his welfare. He shall not consider as good only that which pleases him but treat as beneficial to him what ever causes happiness to all people.

Planning - Learn from the mistakes of others... you can't live long enough to make them all yourselves!!

Page 23: Chanakya neeti

SUTRA FROM CHANAKYA Staffing - The leader should judge the

ability of a person from his capacity of doing work, distribute rank and position according to the ability of persons and assign the place, time and work to them accordingly.

Time management - Time comes but once to a man waiting for an opportunity, that time is difficult for that man to get again when he wants to do his work.

Page 24: Chanakya neeti

SUTRA FROM CHANAKYA Budgeting - Money earned must be spent to

keep it in circulation. Put it to good use which is the best protective investment. The water of pond has flow and outflow systems. That keeps its water clean.

The capital should not be allowed to stagnate and remain as a dead investments. It must be made to work by investing in good projects. That’s how it will stay active and will grow for the benefit of all. And it is more safe and alive that way, similarly as the circulation keeps pond water fresh, clean and free of germs

The idea which is soothing to listen but not good in practice should not be

uttered
