CHAMPIONS SEE OFF TITLE PRETENDERS In Division One this week leaders and champions Brandhall Labour A hosted their closest rivals Hotshots SC with a slender one point advantage and saw off the title pretenders with a 3-2 victory with fine wins for Karl Ashmore (48), Gary Miller & main tour pro Mitchell Mann (71) confirming victory and a three point lead at the top as Hotshots remain in the title hunt with wins for Callum Downing & Jamie Brown (71). Sedgley Ex Service A are also still in the title picture after they defeated relegation threatened Landywood SC A 4-1 at home with solid wins for Daniel Ward (55), Andy Highfield, Reanne Evans & Gurdip Sidhu securing the points and victory as only Steve Barton could offer any resistance for Landywood. In Division Two third placed Kingswinford’s 15 match unbeaten run came to an end when they faced struggling Golden Cue C away as they were despatched comfortably 4-1 as the Cue secured victory with frame wins for Paul Lacy (37), Hiten Patel, Carl Dawson-Bannister & Tony Kerr with only Luke Smith in the final frame offering any resistance when he defeated most wins’ man Jim Woodhouse. Close behind in fourth place are Bloxwich Sports who cut the gap for the final promotion spot to three points as they saw off 5 th placed Golden Cue B 4-1 at home with wins for Andy Price, Steve Shaw, Simon Gough (65) & Lee Bannister (34) putting them 4-0 up only for John Gair to spoil the party by winning the final frame of the night for the Cue. In Division Three leaders Electric A are storming to the title and now have an 11 point lead at the top after they demolished doomed bottom club Willenhall Liberal 5-0 at home with impressive wins for Karl Taylor, Andy Millard (30), Eddy Payne (36), Bobby Russell & Neil Thacker whitewashing their visitors for the evening. Wednesfield RBL A are chasing a second successive promotion and are now in second place after they dumped their hosts for the night Landywood SC D into the bottom three with a comfortable 4-1 victory with wins for Tony Downes, Daniel Pugh, Danny Keating & Denis Pugh clinching victory as only Michael Douras could offer ay resistance for Landywood. In Division Four second placed Essington WMC A hosted third placed Codsall Firs A and it was the visitors who prevailed 3-2 in a deciding frame going down to the final black ball with wins for Kirk Butterton, Wayne Habberley & the decider from joint most wins’ man Steve Heath who drawed level in the averages after defeating Mitchell Lowbridge as Essington made it respectable with wins for Stuart Smith & Ben Nicholls. Amery took advantage to go four points clear at the top when they defeated hosts for the night Stafford Constitutional Club 4-1 with wins for Rich Deakin, Mark Archer, Oliver Spooner & Chris Robertson Senior confirming victory with Ian Nunn winning a consolation frame for Stafford. In Division Five leaders Pennfields C strengthened their position at the top when they beat one of their promotion rivals Woodfield D 3-2 at home in a deciding frame after throwing a 2-0 advantage away with wins for Paul Butcher, Dominic Ferraro & the decider from Mark Stevens clinching victory after Woodfield had forced a decider with wins for Pat McVey & Graham McGarry. Two of the other promotion contenders also met this week when Golden Cue H hosted their G team but bragging rights went to the G team as they secured a 3-2 victory with wins for Jodie Allen, Des Walker & Ryan Horrigan as the H team made it respectable with wins for Liam Jones & Jamie Smith. In Division Six leaders Golden Cue K suffered a surprise 3-2 home defeat to British Rail C in a deciding frame as the Rail secured victory with wins for Tommy Butler, Steve Tierney & the decider from Neil Harvey ensuring a surprise victory after the Cue had forced a decider with wins for Murti Ram & Scott Ward. Bushbury Grid C narrowed the gap to two points taking advantage of the Cue’s slip up with a 3-2 home victory over Darlaston Cons B with wins for Darren Shirley, Paul Wakeman & Ian Boucher clinching victory as the Cons made it respectable with wins for Garry Hale & David Onions.
