Monday 16th & Tuesday 17th October 2017

VENUE: William Angliss Institute 555 La Trobe Street Victoria 3000 Australia

We have just 30 tickets for the three special events in our popular

MasterClass Workshop Series. Act now to secure your spot.

Bringing together a group of exceptional

thinkers, doers, entrepreneurs and

disruptors, this year’s Ethical Enterprise

Conference aims to challenge traditional

business models and inspire us to create

something extraodinary by doing things

differently. We’ll explore how, through

adaptation and innovation, we can change

our mindsets and transform our thinking

and, in turn, our businesses.

The 2017 annual Ethical Enterprise Conference will unify change makers, embrace the courage of purpose-driven organisations, and seek to push boundaries to shift business culture and encourage innovation and collaboration.

As with previous conferences, two days bring together influential business and community leaders, organisations and businesses that aspire to do good and transform their communities for the better.

During the conference, finalists of the Early Ethical Entrepreneurs Competition will pitch their ideas in a bid to receive mentoring from high-profile business people.

Conference also includes

The Ethical Enterprise Award Dinner

Ceremony

An important - but optional - part of this conference,

the Dinner provides a chance for delegates to relax

after a full day of inspiration, enjoy a delicious meal

- and perhaps indulge in a little more networking.

During the evening we’ll introduce the finalists

of the 2017 Ethical Enterprise Awards before the

highlight of the evening: the announcement of the

2017 winners.

Welcome to the Ethical Enterprise Conference and the Ethical Enterprise Award 2017.

“Challenging the traditional to inspire the extraordinary.” This is theme of our 2017 conference, and our speakers, many of whom began their careers in traditional roles in traditional professions, are experts in the art.

These are the people who are changing the world: social entrepreneurs, community leaders, game changers, highly regarded individuals who are taking courageous leaps to build enterprises with purpose, to create change that will have positive impact and leave a legacy for future generations to come.

I invite you to come along, get inspired, learn and network. This event will not disappoint: there will be stories to share, conversations on global and local issues, debates, pitching presentations from people with innovative new ideas, all capped with the award ceremony and dinner.

Susanna Bevilacqua Moral Fairground Founder

Welcome to the Ethical Enterprise Conference

A recent study in Australia found children are more likely to be ethical consumers than their parents. It turns out kids today know so much more than you’d expect about the damage from palm oil plantations, animal welfare, or unfair working conditions overseas.

While it’s great that children are demanding their parents buy only Fairly traded chocolate, there’s only so much impact they can have when they don’t buy the groceries, pay the bills or vote. All too often, the most vulnerable in our society are the ones who have minimal opportunity to make decisions to shape it.

Take, for example, the millions of people globally who are subject to slavery and forced child labour – neglected of their freedom to even make their own daily decisions. Modern-day slavery still turns up in the supply chains of everyday consumables like laptops, smartphones, clothes and shoes. But the sad truth is that even for the concerned adult consumer, it’s difficult to find out if forced labour is part of a company’s supply chain, as the information either isn’t available or it’s hidden from us.

That’s why this conference is so important – because it challenges existing business models and celebrates those that blend the power of enterprise with a social and environmental consciousness. They need to be celebrated – so that consumers who are looking to bring compassion to their everyday choices can see the positive impact business can bring.

I hope you enjoy the conference and learn more about the truly remarkable organisations being showcased. It’s with great optimism that I hope to see these organisations thriving well into the future, so that ethical is the new normal for the next generation.

We are living at a time of unprecedented change. With conventional structures failing in their potential to address the triple bottom line of people, planet and profits, the opportunity for creative enterprises to solve complex problems has never been greater. Future problem solving does not depend on big business and big governments, nor is it the propriety of high tech companies, it depends on individuals accepting just how creative they are. Whilst traditional models of problem solving have been based within competitive, political and legal paradigms, it’s time to inject the power of common sense. It’s time to solve our problems by recognising what we have in common with one another, rather than focusing on our differences. The future is Unity.
