NEWSLETTER No 33 – 1st November, 2019

CHALCOT WEEKLY

Growing a Supportive Community of Active Learners

Chalcot Lodge Commitment to Child Safety

Chalcot Lodge Primary School is committed to safety and wellbeing of all children and young people. This will be the

primary focus of our care and decision-making. Chalcot Lodge Primary School has zero tolerance for child abuse.

Chalcot Lodge Primary School is committed to providing a child safe environment where children and young people are

safe and feel safe, and their voices are heard about decisions that affect their lives. Particular attention will be paid to the

cultural safety of Aboriginal children and children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds, as well as

the safety of children with a disability.

Every person involved at Chalcot Lodge Primary School has a responsibility to understand the important and specific role

he/she plays individually and collectively to ensure that the wellbeing and safety of all children and young people is at

the forefront of all they do and every decision they make.

A big thank you to all of our parent helpers that assisted at the Bunnings BBQ

on Sunday. It was also great to see so many families come down to support our

Year 6 fundraiser.

They raised $735.70 and the funds will be used towards the Year 6 Graduation

and Big Day Out.

raised will go towards Parent Club/s support of our ICT Program.

Remembrance Day – Monday 11th November

The Chalcot family will be commemorating Remembrance Day on Monday 11th November, commencing

at 9.15am in the hall. It would be much appreciated if parents would send along a few flowers or a small

posy for their children to place under the Australian flag during the assembly.

Poppies are now available for purchase in the classrooms for 50 cents. All proceeds are used in the welfare

work carried out by the RSL for ex-servicemen, women and their families who are necessitous situations.

Parents and extended family members are most welcome to join us for this very special assembly. LEST

Accessing Compass

We do recommend that Compass is accessed at least twice a week whether you choose to receive

notifications or not, to ensure that you are kept up to date with school activities and information. This will

prevent students and parents missing out on any information or events at school. It is a parent / guardian

responsibility to access information the school is providing. If you are having difficulties accessing

Compass or with your login and password details, please contact the office for assistance.

School Activity Payments

School Council would also like to remind parents/guardians that payments for school organised activities

(whether it be for an excursion, invisit or parent club activity) must be paid by the due date in order to

facilitate smooth organisation of the event and to ensure that correct financial processes are followed.

Payment through Compass is the school’s preferred method of payment, parents/guardians are able contact

the office to make alternative arrangements. Please note that no late payments for school activities will be

accepted through the office.

Uniform Update - Beleza

School Council last week approved the addition of a black skort to the girl’s uniform range. In last

week’s newsletter we advertised that Beleza were holding a VIP 20% off sale from 11th – 13th November,

we have heard from parents that the sale has already begun.

Just a reminder that our school hat is the bottle green broad brimmed style which bears our school’s logo

on the front. Some students are wearing hats without the logo and consequently are out of uniform.

School uniform hats must be worn during Terms 1 and 4 as part of our Sun Smart policy. Hats can be

purchased from our uniform supplier, Beleza School Uniforms in Hallam.

Tuesday 5th November – Melbourne Cup Public Holiday

A reminder that this Tuesday is Melbourne Cup day and a public holiday.

photos; the cost is $10.00 per DVD. If you wish to order more than one DVD, please amend the cost to

reflect the number you wish to purchase. All funds raised will go to the ICT Program. Orders and

payment can be processed via Compass through Course Confirmation/Payments. Please place your order

and make payment by Monday 11th November or contact the office to make alternate arrangements.
