Profile of Siphamandla Zondi

Siphamandla Zondi researches Africa’s international relations with an interest in promoting African renaissance and decolonization of world affairs. His orientation commitment to epistemic rebellion against deep-seated Eurocentrism. His publications have been on South Africa's foreign policy analysis including recent pieces on peace diplomacy in Madagascar and Zimbabwe, African agency in international diplomacy, SA’s ubuntu diplomacy, Ocean Diplomacy, and NATO’s imperial designs over Libya. Zondi is the head of the Institute for Global Dialogue, a Unisa-associated foreign policy think tank based in Pretoria. He teaches African renaissance at Thabo Mbeki African Leadership Institute and international organisations at University of Johannesburg (part-time). He earned his undergraduate degrees at the University of Durban-Westville in South Africa and his MPhil and DPhil at Cambridge University

Education, Gender and Designation

Professor Esther Kibuka-Sebitosi is a female South African citizen with a PhD focusing on vector-

borne diseases, an MBA (Open University, UK/UNISA), an MSc and a BSc (Hon) in Natural Sciences.

She is currently finalizing a Masters in Open and Distance Education (MEd ODL) a University of

Maryland University College (UMUC), USA/UNISA programme focusing on Technology education

and online learning.

Prof. Esther Kibuka-Sebitosi is a unique University professor with Entrepreneurship skills, who

combines multi-disciples to solve Africa’s complex problems under the Africa Renaissance paradigm.

She is widely Published author and sought after International and motivational speaker. She is a

mentor of young and upcoming entrepreneurs in the Green Skills and a member of the National

Environment Sector Skills Development Forum of South Africa.

Academic Citizenship and Community engagement

Prof. Kibuka is a member of the Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Expert Net

(www.esd-expert.net) comprising members in South Africa, Germany, Mexico and India, a team

that addresses sustainable development. In South Africa, she is part of the Fundisa for Change

programme for teacher development currently being implemented in South Africa. She mentors

the Youth in the Green economy and Green skills as part of the ESD Leadership Skills

Development Programme. A former member of the European Union Training Foundation (ETF)

Board, Turin, Italy and a current Board member of the Health systems Trust (HST), South

Africa, Prof Kibuka’s community engagement/academic citizenship spans locally and

internationally. Due to her multi-disciplines academically, Professor Kibuka supervises several

PhD and Masters Students in a variety of fields such as African Renaissance, Public

administration, Political Science, Development studies, Health studies, Science Education and

Business. She is a Technical advisor for the UN, EU and African Governments on projects

including Elections, HIV/AIDS, Gender, Education for sustainable development (ESD),

Entrepreneurship and eHealth in Sub-Saharan Africa. Her publications on Elections entitled,

“Gender dynamics in elections in Africa, Published in the Journal of African Elections 12:3, 120-

141 and a Book entitled, “South Africa twenty years into Democracy: The march to the 2014

elections. with colleagues Maphunye, K., E. (Chair of the WIPHOLD-Brigalia Bam Chair in

Electoral Democracy.) and Moagi, A (2014) illustrates her knowledge of Democratic elections.
