Burullus awarded Enppi the development of FEED study for the T-L Onshore Modification Project on Apr. 30th, 2015 . Enppi completed the FEED Phase on September 30th, 2015. Burullus issued to Enppi RFQ on September 15th, 2015 for an EPC project to implement the FEED study outcome.

On December 2nd,2015, Burullus issued the Letter of Award (LOA) to Enppi for the EPC works for Taurus/Libra onshore facilities. Enppi shall provide the Engineering, Procurement, Construction up to Pre-commissioning and Commissioning & Start-up assistance to achieve the objective to implement the FEED study outcome.

The project aims at applying the recommendations of the study executed by Enppi, during a previous phase, to investigate whether the onshore facilities at the Burullus Gas site in Idku are capable of handling the gas coming from West Delta Deep Marine (WDDM) and Taurus-Libra according to the six suggested operation cases, that the client recommended in the previous phase, through Worley Parson and issue the recommendations for the new needed amendments and maximize the usage of the facilities available.

Enppi shall manage the technical interfaces with all its vendors, subcontractors from detailed design up to commissioning and start-up assistance for all the supplied equipment, materials and services. During Commissioning, Enppi will provide support and management of the interfaces with Burullus.

The West Delta Deep Marine (WDDM) concession is located on the North-Western side of the Nile Delta, approximately 90 km offshore Idku.

The Burullus Gas Company, on behalf of the partners, has continued with the exploration and development of the WDDM concession. Significant quantities of gas have been discovered. The initial production is

supplemented by drilling infield wells and developing additional fields through the production life of the field.

It is proposed that the Taurus and Libra fields (T-L) tie-in to the offshore WDDM subsea infrastructure for onshore processing. The T-L wells are located west of the WDDM concession and the proposed tie-in location is the WDDM subsea Pipeline End Manifold (PLEM), from which three pipelines export gas to onshore facility at Idku.

Previous phases of study of bringing Taurus-Libra fluids into Idku terminal have focused on using the 24” pipeline. This project looks at using the phase VII 36” pipeline, which is routed to slug-catcher m- 9002 for Taurus-Libra fluids when they are required to be segregated from WDDM fluids.

Taurus-Libra fluids can also be commingled with WDDM fluids offshore.

The WDDM Phase VII 36” pipeline will be the primary pipeline for the Taurus-Libra Tie-In.

The Taurus-Libra production will be capable of transport in both segregated and commingled mode of operation.

Under commingled mode of operation, Libra-Taurus fluid shall be produced to shore along with WDDM fluid via the three WDDM subsea pipelines.

GPC plans to construct Two New Offshore Platforms at HH and NAO fields at Gulf of Suez. The new Platforms are located within 8 km range from existing (AMER-8) Platform. The new Platforms (HH & NAO) contain production manifolds that shall be designed to receive production from existing wells with future connection provisions. Moreover, necessary Chemical Injection Skids are to be installed on the Platforms as well. The production from the new (HH & NAO) Platforms will be transferred directly to existing (AMER-8) Platform via new 6” Pipeline of 8 km long.

It is worth mentioning that, GPC awarded the project to Consortium composed on Enppi, PETROJET and PMS as EPC, Lump-sum, and Turnkey Contract, where Enppi scope covers the following: • Detailed Engineering.• Procurement Activities.• Commissioning and Start-up Assistance.• Overall Project Management.• Consortium Management.

Along four decades, the most optimistic scenarios would never expect the success that Enppi achieved, or the influence it had on the Egyptian Petroleum Sector. Honestly saying , this influence exceeded the borders of Egypt to the extent of the Arab region, the Middle East, Africa and some countries around the world.

Success in oil , gas and petrochemical fields was never the limit , Enppi success is an approach and style adopted by the major organizations all over the world and in terms of its national role, Enppi effectively contributed to other national sectors, which are considered as an important gear in the national economy engine and the password of the projects, success.

No wonder Enppi is one of the biggest supporters to the Egyptian sport via “ Enppi Club” which sponsors and supports many Egyptian athletes and hosts

numerous local and international championships. In addition , Enppi is a shareholder and a partner in the Sports Services Egyptian Petroleum Co. (Petrosport).

climate factors of the project programs, in addition to the expected operation conditions, it became possible to ob-tain more realistic designs for buildings that are consistent with the external environment with the highest quality of the users’ internal environment. The Emergence of LEED Assessment:

US Green Building Council began using valuation in 2000 ,as one of the ways of green buildings, in order to assess the documentation and make sure that the building de-signs check the principles of sustainability and green build-ing Fig. (2). The main objectives were determined for the green building depending on maintaining the natural re-sources without loss and demolishing the passive impact of the emissions causing the global warming, resulting from greenhouse gas emitted during the processes of construc-tion and operation of the building.US Green Building Council definition for the green buildings

“Green building is a concept that starts with the un-derstanding that the built environment can have profound effects, both positive and negative, on the natural environ-ment, as well as the people who inhabit buildings every day. Green building is an effort to amplify the positive and mitigate the negative of these effects throughout the entire life cycle of a building.Advantages of the Green Buildings:

Green Building benefits are not limited only to the en-vironmental aspects such as limiting the waste of natural resources including, energy, water, raw materials, but also the economic dimension was the main aim of the green building as it decreases the total cost of the building repre-sented in cutting down the indirect cost through elevating the users’ production efficiency and a convenient work en-vironment to downsize the health problems and curing ex-penses. As for the direct cost it depends on the abundance in construction material, operation and maintenance cost. It is proven that, the classification of the building as “Green Building” increases its marketing value and also the fixed assets of the project’s owner. Finally, the green building opens a new labor markets in the construction field which is considered a social benefit to form the environmental tri-

angle; Environment, economy, and society, Figs. (3&4). Assessment and Classification of Green Buildings:

It was necessary to establish a new culture which increases the relation between the human and the surrounding environ-ment to maintain it by depending on the alternative Resources & Methods in such as; Using alternative transportation means such as (Bicycles and carpool), or relying on natural lighting as much as possible as an efficient method for decreasing energy consuming. Finally Natural Resources Conservation methods such as wastes recycling or the reuse of what so called “Gray Water” has a great impact on natural resources sustainability. Figs. (5&6).

Assessment Levels and Objectives: The Assessment levels are divided into 8 categories as

follows:-1- Integrated Design: to determine the different elements of the project study to reach the best performance of the building, such as (isolation, finishing, glass, cladding, and shadowing) depending on the database of the simulation programs to improve the consumption rates of the building. 2- Location and Transportation: to encourage the utiliza-tion of energy-saving transportation means, such as aero-bicycles, electric cars and the participation of groups in transportation means to reduce energy-consuming, besides considering distances pedestrian and how close walk from basic services sites, source choosing the construction ma-terials source close to the project site to reduce transport distances and cost.3- Sustainable Sites: to sum up the procedures for the man-agement of the project’s site; which includes the reduction of pollution caused by construction work and the preser-vation of underground water from pollution sources and reduce thermal pollution root and the photosynthesis phe-nomenon.4- Water Efficiency: to illustrate the ability to reduce the use of drinking water in non-drinking purposes and reuse water in non-drinking purposes; such as the use of wast-age of water cooling towers again in refrigerants and rely on accurate method for measuring and monitoring utilization rates of water to take a corrective action (If necessary).5- Energy and Atmosphere: to know the amount of the ex-pected savings of energy consumption rates (as a reference point for the design) and what has already been consumed

for the project and it is to gain points in this level assess-ment report whenever it uses the largest savings ratios in energy. 6- Materials and Resources: to manage resources and ma-terials management: depending on the ability to reduce losses resulting from the construction or operation of the building through the use of recycling of those resources of sorting and recycling, both in the site or factory and to en-courage the selection of a circular content materials and be supported by certificates accredited by specialized compa-nies. 7- Indoor Environment Quality: to measure the efficiency of procedures taken to improve the internal environment, such as Thermal Comfort and the ability to depend on the natural lighting with improving the quality of ventilation in the building.

8- Innovation: to encourage innovation with different meth-ods, to achieve goals of the aforementioned levels.Application of LEED in EGPC Building: • Project designing team studied all possible ways to im-prove the properties of materials used in exterior finishes in the outdoor glass and metal cladding, as a way to reduce the electricity consumption in the building, such as: 1- External roof Cladding of Standing Seam aluminum sys-tem was chosen to reduce the (heat transfer) to the building and to reduce the Heat Island effect and get the amount of 0.35 U-VALUE. (Figs. 7&8). 2- A selection of Chemically-Treated Glass to avoid over loads of electricity consumption, which was reduced to be 54 % lower than the ordinary untreated glass (Figs. 9&10). 3- Applying of alternative energy resources by Photovoltaic cells, connected to the main stream network with the ability of producing 1200 K.W.H annually (Figs. 11 & 12).

4- Aluminum claddings were selected to rationalize con-sumption in electrical power, by adding rock wool insulation as thermal parries to increase the thermal isolation to reach R-VALUE 20 (Figs. 13&14). 5- Relying as much as possible on natural lighting, using day-light reflecting surfaces and controlling to minimize artificial lighting usage (Fig. 15). 6- Selection of Materials with Recycled Content in construc-tion, as choosing HPL Wooden floors with a high proportion of the Recycled Content (Fig. 16).

It is worth mentioning that, Enppi aspires to apply the “Green architecture” principles in all running projects, in order to elevate the environment quality for achieving its role for better society and high quality living standards as well.

Urban Planning

Eng. Heba Mostafa AliArchitectural Engineering Specialist - Civil Engineering Division

Urban planning is satisfying society needs at specific time & location. It is the integrated concept of coor-dination among all functional, visual, economic and social aspects in a city, bearing in mind the society’s abili-ties and specifications. Urban planning aims to evaluate urban and rural life styles and provide engineering solutions for urban planning problems, i.e. over-growing population, squatters, traffic jams and organizing population-service transportation. There are several theories for urban and regional planning that targets organizing life within urban societies.

A Fictional Design for the Egyptian Tiba

Al-Moeiz St., Egypt

Ancient Egyptian Civilization & Urban Planning

Since ancient Egyptian civilization had been found on haunting & sniping, Egyptians had lived as small, isolated and mobile groups. Afterwards, agricul-ture had been discovered and settling down by the riverbank gathered these scattered groups. Therefore, settling down in different-sized and multi-pur-posed villages and cities was known.

As soon as these groups had de-scended to the valley, they settled down in villages to co-operate in culti-vation. such villages were the nucleus for cities; they started organizing their lives in these villages and cities, where temples had been built, markets had been introduced, so industries had prospered. Commercial and Administrative

Cities in Ancient EgyptThese cross-roads-viewing cities,

which were fenced for protection from inundation and enemy raids, were known as the central ones. Kings’ pal-aces, together with temples and as-sistants’ residences, centered the city, then encircled with the common’s resi-dences, peasants, shepherds & travel-ers cottages followed by the surround-ing villages. At that time, the prevailing

method to determine a city domination was a man’s optimum walking capacity, i.e. a peasant was expected to reach the market and go back on the same day.

Urban Planning & the Old Islamic Cities

The Islamic architecture started with the construction of the Prophet Mosque on a plot centered the Meddinah City, main roads were paved to connect the mosque with the suburbs accordingly. Al-Jame’e Mosque was the first to be built using this urban planning method that prevailed at that time; establish-ing a mosque in the center surrounded with two main buildings; the khalifa’s residence and the public treasury. A va-cant plot, adjacent to the mosque, was assigned for the construction of a mar-ket without the permission for immedi-ate construction. Afterwards, certain plots, connected with main roads, were arranged and their designs were left for the various tribes, i.e. Meddinah. In the center of these plots, a mosque was built, which was named the-five-prayer mosque, in which people used to pray daily and gather in Al-Jame’e Mosque on Fridays.

Urban Planning StagesUrban planning is based on four

main stages:

Page 21: Chairman & CEO Table of Contents - enppi.com - Mar 2016 Enppi... · supplemented by drilling infield wells and developing additional fields through the production life of the field

Enppi - March 2016 | 21

The First Stage: Structural PlanningIt covers the entire city, this sort of planning covers all

natural elements situated in one municipality as a whole, in the framework of the region’s planning of a city and is connected with main and subsidiary transportation from and to the city.

Structural planning is consisted of numerous maps classified as follows:• Usage maps.• Road network maps.• Public services maps.• Utilities network maps.

For example: The axis of development project pro-posal, executed by Enppi Civil Engineering Division, as a structural study for a development axis of 13 km in length, 3.5 km of depth connecting new Cairo with the new administrative capital.

Some of the important measures considered when ex-ecuting the structural planning for the axis of development:• Over populated zones and population growth rate.• Labor availability and distribution areas.• Public utilities’ geographic location and their supplies.• City main entrances and exits.• Public yards, small & big parks locations.• Stations & transportation network distribution.• Construction-prohibited areas’ geographic location

i.e. touristic areas, natural preservatives and flow re-lease drainages.

Phase Two: Detailed PlanningWhich is a city partial planning, where the detailed

engineering projects are arranged for areas of construc-tional planning of a village or city.

Detailed planning is classified as follows:- The buildings’ height.- Kinds of accommodation.

- Planning the commercial and industrial axes and centers.- Landscape detailed planning.- Usage of plots and occupation of buildings.Phase Three: Environmental Design

A design which studies sites’ coordination in a city urban design & its different suburbs, i.e. the design of various kinds of pathways and substances used in cities’ floorings, determining the landscape areas, kinds and heights of the planted vegetation, with regard to the im-portance of subsidizing the consumption of water.Phase Four: Project Planning

Which is the distinct planning for specialized projects i.e. construction, irrigation, commercial projects and rec-reational services, etc..

Five visual elements for urban planning:1. Pathways.2. Boundaries.3. Neighborhoods.4. Nodes.5. Landmarks.

Housing is one of the most important components of cit-ies, suburbs & neighborhoods. It is crucial that houses fulfill people’s needs when planning the city. Designers should de-sign healthy houses; with good and natural ventilation and illumination and helps in subsidizing energy consumption. Beside housing, comes work places, in which users and busi-ness natures should be taken into account. The third impor-tant element is road networks and traffic, which highlight the success or failure of urban planning in a city. Certain features should be taken into account when designing road networks in cities, i.e. their width and the surrounding infrastructure, roads should be safe for both; drivers and pedestrians by ap-plying traffic signs and lights..etc, various utilities, i.e. rec-reational places, hospitals, and houses of worship should be taken into consideration when planning a city.

2015 has witnessed a variety of international movements related to the environment . On the World Environment Day, the UNEP adopted the slogan: “ Seven Billion Dreams , One Planet, Consume with care!” to express its concern regarding the increase in population and its consequences Then , on September 15th, 2015, ISO 14001 was amended to declare that its target is that it should be implemented by foundations to contribute to the environmental side of the sustainable development .

In the period from September 25th till 27th ,2015 , the UN conference on Sustainable development was held, where 17 targets were agreed upon as follows : The figure dem-onstrates, that the sustainable development goals are nu-merous and are derived from their definition in ISO 26000 that “it is the development which meets the needs of the present, without compromising the ability of the future gen-erations to meet their own needs”. Consequently, some of these goals are related directly or indirectly to the environ-ment ,while some are not related to the environment but to the economy or the society.

The “Environmental Policy” clause in the latest issue of ISO 14001 obliged the organization to comply with a num-ber of commitments; such as including the protection of the environment, prevention of pollution and other commit-ments such as; the sustainable resource use, climate change mitigation of the climate or the protection of biodiversity and ecosystems.

Then the eyes of the world were directed towards Paris where Paris Climate Conference “COP21” was held in the period from November 30th till December 11th, 2015, com-prising the countries who are parties in the frame work con-vention of climate change, to discuss the new commitments that the world should adopt to reduce the global warming .

Recently, several new terminologies have surfaced, such as:“Climate Engineering“, meaning the deliberate in-terventions in the environment; which are designed to face the climate change globally. The governments shall need to finance the attempts to limit temperature rise, amend laws and impose taxes on the different activities; which emit carbon .

Although the price of the traditional fuel (oil, gas and coal) is considered relatively low, yet its harmful impacts on the environment and health giving rise to the term : “ The So-cial Price of the Carbon” which appeared on the pages of the National Geographic (Nov. 2015 Issue), urged supporters of the usage of this traditional fuel to call for charging high fees to be endured by the organizations emit-ting those gases i.e. to be in a form of taxes suggested to equal 30 U$D / ton starting from 2020 with an annual increase of 5%. .

Since Engineering for the Petroleum and Process Industries Co. (Enppi) realizes the role it plays in enhancing the Egyptian econ-omy while participating in the environmental pillar of the sustainable development , the environmental policy of the company has been amended as follows: Enppi has taken into account that raising the awareness of protecting the environment is one of its com-mitments in accordance with the require-ments of ISO 14001, and strives to implement all related commitments with respect to the environment. It also invites all parties related to its business domain to comply in turn i.e. contributing to the environmental pillar of the sustainable development taking into con-sideration the life cycle of their projects start-ing from selecting the raw materials till the end of the project life.
