It is clear that our cunent way of life is environmentally
unsustainable. For us to survive and prosper, there will have to be
fundamental changes in the way we live, as individuals and as a
society.
The Environmental Studies curiculum offers an in-depth
examination of basic environmental issues and problems. Our goal
is to provide the education to help students achieve their personal,
community, and career goals, as weli as to instill a sense ofaccomplishment through earning a college degree inEnvironmental Studies.
Textbooks include penetrating and highll readable works by major
figures in the environmental field. such as Paul Ehrlich, BanyCommoner and Vice President Ai Gore. as rvell as authoritative
studies compiled by leading environmental organizations such as
the World Watch Institute, whose books are used by the UnitedNations.
Reco gnizin g our responsibility to stimulate environmentally
sensitive business policies, the B.S. curriculum contains several
courses on environmental issues for business. An innovative
interdisciplinary M.S. program combines courses in management
with a concentration in Environmental Studies.
Chadwick continually revises the curriculum to ensure it meets the
objectives of the Environmental Studies Program: to help promote
environmental progress and to produce graduates who can be
successful professionals and responsible citizens.
CaRppn OppoRruxrrresEnvironmental Studies is one of the most promising career fieldsof the future. In fact, the demand already exceeds the supply in a
number of areas, including environmental health, industrial
hygiene, and environmental engineering. Chadwick maintains
information on job openings and career placement and makes this
available to its students and graduates.Cn,q.owlcr UNrvensnv 23
