1. DOCTRINE

• The belief that the wine and bread became the actual body and blood of Christ.– This is called transubstantiation

• The belief that you had to do works as well as faith for salvation

• Practice that put other works on equal footing with the Bible

2. Persecution

• Roman Church authorized the Inquisition– Church court set up to find and punish heretics
