OVERVIEW OF COURSE This course aims to build the necessary skills, knowledge and confidence to enable graduates to support the wellbeing, learning and development of children and support the implementation of an approved learning framework. KEY FEATURES A range of interesting topics are covered including: child development and learning caring for babies supporting children’s play developing cooperative behaviour health and safety of children emergency first aid response in an education setting. Students can also access: academic skills support • career advice • state-of-the-art library. DURATION AND MODE OF DELIVERY 12 months (equivalent to full time) face to face. Course commences in February each year. OUTCOMES When students have completed the course they will be issued with a nationally accredited award: CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. PATHWAYS TO FURTHER STUDIES Students who complete the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care may gain credit in other courses in the Community Services area or gain credit for the first year of a 18 month Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care course at ACU. CAREER PATHS Students can work as childcare workers in the following settings: home setting as a nanny • childcare centre outside school hours care programs kindergarten and pre-prep programs. CREDIT TRANSFER/RPL We recognise students’ prior qualifications, skills and experiences. Please refer to our website or student handbook for information. TUITION FEES Please refer to the ACU website for current tuition fees. State Government funding, which reduces the tuition fee, is available for eligible students. Please see the ACU website for eligibility criteria. PRACTICAL PLACEMENT Students will be required to complete 300 hours of placements in a recognised early childhood education and care setting. This real workplace experience provides an opportunity to develop practical skills and apply knowledge acquired in theory classes. We will assist students to find suitable placements.

Students will be required to complete an LLN assessment prior to enrolment to ascertain the level of support required to complete the course.
