He will step out in the Southern Cross TV Maiden Hcp (1100m) and might just be the horse to change the fortunes of the stable. Lamprecht has one win on the board this season, a string of minor placings have plagued the stable. Bonsai Boy made his race debut at Pioneer Park in mid-October when he contested an 1100m Maiden Hcp. He was all at sea that day but his work over the final 200m was good. He gained a tremendous amount of knowledge through that effort and it showed next time out. Bonsai Boy faced the starter three weeks later and despite being beaten, he gave warning of things to come. He came from well back but finished very strongly in running second be- hind Mystic Obsession, while Saint Pulse ran third. Those two horses have both won since and the form lines that run through Bonsai Boy will add a touch of confidence to punters on Sunday. Craig Lloyd, who has based himself in Alice Springs for the final few meetings this year will partner Bonsai Boy. Good galloper Ripley has been dis- appointing in three runs back from a spell and there is no denying it. He looked like a pretty smart horse when he arrived here but never quite reached the top of his hill. He gets the services of in form apprentice Raymond Vigar on Sunday and that may be the key that unlocks the best of Ripley’s ability. He worked home well last week behind Princess Zietta, and if there is another race in him it might be this week when he takes on the OAMPS Insurance Hcp (1200m). The Will Savage-trained Lago Como won a three horse Maiden last Sunday by four lengths. He will line up again on Sunday in the Unibet hcp (1200m) and he will have to go up a level or two to win, but I think he can. He will be handled by Phillip Crich on Sunday. Lago Como is a former Victorian galloper and he will win a few races here before his time is up.
