The redesign will allow the program to better align itself with the mission of NIGP to develop, support and promote the public procurement profession. The purpose of the program is to introduce college students to the procurement field, the tasks procurement professional perform, and the ethical challenges that may arise during the procurement process. To ensure that the participant’s time with the agency and the Chapter is productive below are learning objectives and sample tasks that the CFC Young Professional Outreach Committee recommends each intern achieve upon completion of the internship. Learning Objectives: After completing the internship, the intern will be able to explain the meaning of the word procurement At the conclusion of the internship, the intern will have a basic understanding of the duties and responsibilities of a procurement professional After completing the internship, the intern will be able to discuss the differences and similarities between sourcing methods Sample Tasks: The Central Florida Chapter of NIGP works to promote and support the professional development of its diverse membership and strives to maintain the highest standard of ethics, integrity, public trust and awareness in the public procurement profession.

The Central Florida Chapter – NEW NIGP Public Procurement Internship/Externship Program has been redesigned by the CFC Young Professional Outreach Committee. Sample Tasks:

Assist with creation of specifications Assist with contract administration Attend pre-bid/pre-proposal and bid/proposal openings

Please Note: Each participant will be required to fill out an Exit Interview that detailing their time with the agency. The Exit Interview will be used to help shape and improve the program.

Submission Information:The attached application must be approved and signed by the Purchasing Director/Manager of the requesting member agency. Applications will be forwarded to the CFC Young Professional Outreach Committee, who will review and match interested students with agencies. Applications will be accepted on a year round basis.
