Today almost all enterprises operate at European and global levels. Timezones and state borders are losing significance, technological innovations are rapidly changing production and logistics.

These developments present enormous chances for employees, but also risks. However one thing is certain: a social and just process of globalisati-on across borders can only be formed on a strong foundation of codetermination.

European Works Councils have been in existence for 20 years, of which some 1300 currently repre-sent the interests of millions of employees. There

are approximately 110 EWC active in the metal and electrical industry in Germany alone.

At the Bildungszentrum Heimvolkshochschule Hustedt e.V. we create educational experiences based on the foundation of over 70 years of poli-tical and trade union educational work – always with a view to current and new developments in the worksphere and in politics and society.

As of 2018 we will be expanding our portfolio especially for European Work Councils. Therefore we are currently developing a brand new building on our grounds: an exceptional seminar unit, at its center an outstanding conference room equip-ped with modern interpreting technology along with 30 modern rooms for our guests.

— Catering and accommodation

— Conference and interpreting technology as well as interpreting assistance

— All services surrounding arrivals, leisure-time programmes and more

The new facilities can be used for periodic confe-rences with the central management (§ 29 EBRG or European Works Council Act of Germany), further committee conferences (§ 26 EBRG) as well as for training programmes (§ 37/38 EBRG). These regulations also apply for the SE Works Councils.

Our five-member pedagogical team is also avai-lable for training courses and educational events on request. Additionally, we can refer to our ex-tensive pool of highly-qualified and professional speakers, advisors and specialists.

— Center for European Works Councils: Confe-rence room (30 seats in seminary configu-ration, 70 in parliamentary configuration), microphone and laptop access point at every seat, 8 interpreter’s booths, moni-tors for chairs of conference, 3 additional group rooms and 30 single rooms with full bathrooms within the building

— Further amenities on the site: 6 seminar rooms with up to 70 seats, seating freely selectable, equipped with projectors and modern conference technology, separate group rooms, 85 single rooms with full bathrooms

— Regional and healthy cuisine

— Spacious dining hall for up to 100 guests

— Swimming pool and sauna

— Free Wi-Fi throughout the entire site and best cell phone access due to own network tower

For multilingual conferences or seminars, we are also able to commission the services of profes-sional interpreters who have previously worked and proven themselves at EWC conferences as well as at other, similar events.

The Bildungszentrum Heimvolkshochschule Hustedt e.V is a recognised institution of youth and adult education. Founded in 1948 in Hustedt near Celle, in the Lüneburg heathland, today it is a center of political education, social democracy and codetermination.

Our work is independent from political parties and ideologies, bound to the tradition of the wor-kers movement and the European enlightenment. Liberty, equality and solidarity are our core valu-es. Our goal is to originate and improve people‘s political judgement and ability to act at work, in economy and society.

In cooperation with our trade union and further education partners, we organise over 300 semi-

nars per year with approximately 5000 partici-pants. Generally, in the form of week-long semi-nars as part of boarding school operations.

As an adult education center, we practice the motto “learning and living under one roof”. We offer 7 seminar units and 115 rooms (3-star qua-lity) in several buildings centered on approxima-tely 70,000 m2 of beautiful parkland grounds.

In addition, we provide a modern healthy and regional cuisine for every taste, a spacious di-ning hall, a rustic-style bar as well as a library, a swimming pool and a sauna. The whole property was completely modernised as of 2009. A highly motivated team of 55 employees works for the well-being of our guests.

Getting there

Via car: Hustedt lies north of Celle near to the national highway 3 and between national roads 2 and 7. Hustedt can be reached in approximately 40 minutes by car from Hannover.

Via public transport: There is a railway connecti-on between Hannover main station and Celle that runs every 30 minutes.

Via airplane: Hustedt lies approximately 40 minutes away from the airport Hannover-Lan-genhagen by car. Many European destinations are accessible from this point onwards. A direct shuttle service from the airport to Hustedt is available upon request.
