Each Wednesday, a new Central Business District Business is featured on Center City’s Facebook page with a photo of the inside of their store and a fun fact, chosen by the business owner. This is a great, free way that we try to get more exposure for local businesses. Once we post the weekly “Within the Walls Wednesdays” post, viewers share, repost, like, and comment on the pictures, increasing the views and gaining awareness for each business featured. If your business has not been featured yet, don’t worry. You will be soon! The last weekend of September was host to the Third Annual Oktoberfest in Richmond’s Historic Depot District. Some fesval aendees dressed in their best German are to party. Beer and brats were the the diet for the day, and fesval aendees were able to try locally made beer from the Depot District’s newest microbrewer, New Boswell Brewing Compnay. People had fun playing games, listening to live music, browsing locally made goods and craſts, and more! Oktoberfest is an annual event made possible by the businesses and visitors of the Depot District. Roscoe’s Coffee Bar and Tap Room in the Depot District is now open for business. With great hours, coffee, food, and beer, Roscoe’s is a great new place to have a unique experience in Richmond. Roscoe’s Coffee Bar and Tap Room is a fun, new coffee bar offering a unique experience for adults and families, alike. “We are a social gathering place that focuses on specialty, fair trade, organic coffees, teas, gourmet paninis, pastries, wines, and craft beers on tap arriving late October.”-Kyle King, Co-Owner, Roscoe’s Coffee Bar and Tap Room.

Roscoe’s had a great opening night, as the community had been eagerly awaiting the coffee bar’s opening.

Located in the former Cadillac dealership on the southeast corner of East Main and 11th streets, The Oz Mart was opened at 1105 E. Main St. in April. It is a mart set up to sell quality food and drinks, “not just junk” for residents and visitors, alike.

Oz Mart hours: 9:00am - 9:00pm Monday through Thursday; 9:00am - 3:00am Friday and Saturday; and Noon - 9:00pm Sunday.

There is also a walk-up window from 10:00pm - 3:00am Fridays and Saturdays. During those hours, all sales are handled through the window only.

Further expansion on the 800 block of East Main Street is continuing. John Belegrin, Knollenberg’s owner will soon open an antique mall in the space next to Sassy Seconds, with the help of Sassy Seconds and Thompson’s Appliances owners.

Shabby Chic, owned by Lynch-Houssain, opened on June 11 at 1236 E. Main St. It’s located in the Husson Block building. The store specializes in selling women’s clothes, accessories, jewelry and shoes.

Shabby Chic hours: 4:00pm - 7:00pm Wednesday through Friday and Noon - 2:00pm Saturday. Hours are expected to expand in the future.

New Boswell is a local Microbrewery with a Tap Room brewing a variety of craft ales from their light Cream Ale to their rich, peated Stout, and plenty in between.

Owners Rodrick Landess and Kiera Landess (Davenport) opened New Boswell Brewery & Tap Room on the last week of September during Oktoberfest in the Loft.
