Important Information!

SAFETY PROCEDURES:

Virtual Learning

Students have the option for asynchronous learning (Logging in, watching recorded class video of the lessons for the day, working on assignments and submitting assignments on their own schedule, having to email and wait for responses from teachers) or synchronous learning (logging in live, at the specific times for their classes as listed in Skyward, experiencing live teaching, collaborating live with other students and having access to the teacher live, completing lessons during the schedule time of the class).

It is highly encouraged for every student to try and participate in synchronous learning to get the best possible teaching and learning experience with exposure to classmates and teachers for live interaction and learning. Attendance can earned in either virtual mode of learning, which is explained on the next slide.

Graduation Plan

Foundation Plan with Endorsement

Graduating on this plan will allow:

Entry into the workforce, 2-year colleges, 4-year universities, or military

services

4 credits of English 1 credit of PE 4 credits of Math 1 credit of Fine Arts 4 credits of Science 2 credits of LOTE 3 credits of Social Studies 7 credits of electives

Grade Level Classification

❖ Freshman = less than 6 credits❖ Sophomore = 6 credits❖ Junior = 12 credits❖ Senior = 18 credits

Students need a total of 26 credits to graduate.

Most CHS students earn 7 credits per year.

Attendance is IMPORTANT!

❖ ALWAYS call or email your student’s House secretary when they are absent, that way you will not get those pesky phone calls and email reminders.

❖ Please make sure to bring all Doctor’s notes within 3 days of the absence.

❖ Credit is tied to attendance! On-campus AND virtual students must attend 90% of their classes to earn credit for a class - this includes EXCUSED & UNEXCUSED absences. A virtual student can either login and participate with a live teacher or complete an assignment by 11:59 p.m. in each class. If a student is absent more than the allowable time, they will be required to attend after school tutorials or Saturday School to make up. If not, NO credit will be awarded.

Transcript & GPA

❖ Middle School credits will be included in the transcript at the end of 1st semester.

❖ GPA & Class Rank are calculated only 2 times per year (the end of January and the end of June)

❖ PGP (Personal Graduation Plan) Meetings are required by the state and will be held in the Late Fall or Spring.

Schedule Changes Student schedules will be available on Skyward on August 25.

Schedule Changes Are Limited To: 1. Not enrolled in a course required to graduate (ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies, all

others are considered electives & can be captured in another school year)

2. Scheduled in a class for which they already have credit (Spanish, Algebra, IPC, etc.)

3. Scheduled into a class for which the student does not have the prerequisites

4. Cut from or added to an athletic or extracurricular program/course (Athletics, Band, Choir, etc.)

Student Success is #1

If your student has difficulty in a class, contact the teacher directly. Please give them a chance to speak for what is or is not occurring in their classroom. If they do not respond, please alert the House Principal.

In-person or virtual tutorials are offered before school and/or after school. No reason for a student to fail due to lack of understanding or tests.

If student fails a course, one of 3 things may occur. 1) Student can improve their performance in the 2nd semester and “pass average” for the year. 2) Student will be required to attend summer school at a cost to the parent. 3) Student will lose an elective class period the following year to retake the class to recover the credit.
