EquipmentTatting shuttle, crochet hook for joining if your shuttle does not have a hook, scissors, needle to weave in the ends. Beads are optional, but clear beads add sparkle to this ice crystal.

SuppliesTatting thread in white, natural, or ecru. It is about four inches across in size 20 thread, but can be tatted in any size thread you like.

This pretty snowflake is a variation on the snowflake I did in 1995. This one has 12 rings in the cen-ter, and clovers joined to rings at the six points. It would make a nice Christmas ornament, or a star of David.

Begin with a center ring, follow the red arrow for the first chain.

InstructionsBegin with a shuttle wound full with thread, CTM

( Do NOT cut the thread from the ball ).

12th center ring joins to the first and the previous center rings.

Each of the six sections ( repeats of the pattern ) has an over - under cross at the chain ( 10 ) sections. To make these the same each time the pattern repeats, be certain to turn the piece the same direction

every time so the chain crosses over the same way each time.

Tie the end of the final chain ( 10 ) to the base of the first ring. Cut, then hide the ends.

The picots where the last repeat joins to the first are drawn in blue.
