Celebrating 37 Years of Running
Thank you for being part of the FARC Family.
President’s Message
Welcome tonight to the 2019 Freehold Area Running Club’s Awards
Banquet and 39 Year of Celebrating our running traditions.
This year we maintained our 37th year tradition of 5 Sundays of our 5K
Winter Series with soup and bagels for all runners. The winter series takes
a lot of dedicated unselfish members to pull it off every Sunday. Also, we
continued our St Paddy’s Day 5 Mile Run as the Sunday before the holiday
with medals and awards fitting the season. The summer series of kid’s
night dashes and 5K run in Battleground State Park continued to draw
participants from around the area as well as running camps.
Most of all we set a standard for future races with our enhanced Born to
Run 5 Mile Race with vendor expo, kids races and finisher medals. Again,
the attendance was up from the previous year thanks to a dedicated race
committee headed by our past president Joe Francese.
As a member for over 35 years I am always proud to get praises from
runners on “How we put on a good race.” These comments are based upon
the countless hours of our volunteers and the support we get from all
sources. However, we cannot rest on our laurels but move ahead with new
ideas for the next year of races. I challenge our members to become active
with your ideas and participation in our club events and meetings. Wishing
the new Executive Board, the best for the new year.
Sincerely,
Jason Chaikin
