Cedar Springs, nestled on fifty idyllic acres in the beautiful Cascade foothills, offers our guests long term post addiction recovery through education and lifestyle change experiences. Our guests find renewal via whole live food nutrition, spiritual purpose, simple daily exercises and a clear mind from the quiet and pristine surroundings.

Recovery of any kind takes time, sometimes a lifetime. The Cedar Springs program compliments any continued recovery plan. We are not a hospital or a treatment center but a renewal center. We provide a sanctuary for anyone who is in need of a renewing experience after going through the mental and physical stresses of recovering from an illness or addiction.

Addiction Recovery Program

Primary features of our program include:

• Hands on kitchen classes, such as “How to juice”, "The Skinny on Fats” and “How to heal and thrive with Celiac disease or Gluten Intolerance.”

• Fresh wheatgrass twice daily.

• All organic, live and whole food meals.

• Stretching and Qigong classes daily & walking or hiking. (weather permitting)

• Purposeful living & spiritual dialog classes.

Spiritual Purpose

Having a holistic approach to health is essential for people who are attempting to recover from a physical, mental or spiritual illness. Michael Mahaffey, co-director & founder of Cedar Springs, was diagnosed with terminal AML in 1982. His journey to recovery included the 12-step program of AA and a focus on healing from within. In 1984 he experienced a spontaneous remission. He believes that quality of life is possible when you are willing to take the risks to engage the mind, body and spirit in the healing process.

Recovery Services

Raw food nutrition - This GFCF diet helps the body cleanse and rebuild on a cellular level.

Along with whole living food nutrition and a gluten free diet, Cedar Springs offers other services to help our guests find their way back to health and to move past addiction. We offer an infrared sauna, several rejuvenating types of massage and daily low impact exercises.

Gluten/Celiac Information - We offer several classes on the restoration of a healthy gut with information on how to live gluten free.

On site Massage - Helps release tension, stress, sore muscles and assists in moving toxins out of the body.

Infrared Sauna - Helps remove toxins from the body such as alcohol, nicotine and heavy metals.

A Low Impact Exercise Program - Includes nature walks and movement meditations like Qi Gong and gentle yoga.






Our Recovery Team

Our recovery team is personally committed to their own 12 step program of recovery. This assures a strong support base for the guests and at times, their family members, who may be experiencing changes in different ways. We provide safety and boundaries for going through difficult passages as well as celebration of the spiritual awakenings that happen naturally here.

Dion Menser, M.S., L.M.F.T., Program Director, graduated from Texas

Woman’s University with her Masters of Science in Family

Therapy. She is a Washington State Licensed Marriage & Family

Therapist, a clinical member of the American Association of

Marriage & Family Therapy (AAMFT) and a clinical member of the

Washington Association of Marriage & Family Therapy

(WAMFT). Dion has 17+ years of professional experience working in

the field of addiction recovery and chemical dependencies.

Nan Monk, P.C., L.M.P., N.T.P. Co-Founder and creator of the

nutritional protocols for the post recovery. In her consulting

practice at Cedar Springs, she develops menu and diet guidelines,

teaches classes on nutritional healing, and counsels lifestyle and

dietary changes. She also conducts personal dietary assessments

along with evaluating individual nutritional status.

Michael Mahaffey, Co-Founder, is a cancer survivor. Since his

spontaneous remission in 1983 from acute leukemia he has taught

about relationship with God, life in sobriety, spiritual purpose and

living one day at a time to thousands of people. He has authored two

books, “If You Dare” on recovery and “The Complete Cancer

Cleanse” co-authored with Cherie Calbom.
