Dear Friends,

More and more pork barrel scams are being unearthed, and these are published by the media

almost daily. To assure that Truth Come Out and Justice is Served with little or no hindrance,

the Cebu Coalition Against the Pork Barrel System calls: 1) government agencies to hasten the

investigation and to file the appropriate cases in court, 2) those accused to resign from public

office, 3) when convicted, the guilty should return the money stolen from the people, and should

serve jail sentence in regular jail facilities.

While we laud the Supreme Court decision on the Priority Development Assistance Fund

(PDAF), we wish to point out that the Supreme Court itself admits that its decision only covered

certain aspects of the pork barrel issue, contained in the limited parameters of the petitioners.

Notwithstanding, the PDAF has re-emerged or is still untouched in many disguised forms, in the

budgeting and disbursing by government offices and agencies!

To put a final lid on the pork barrel, specifically from the Legislative and Executive branches of

government, we are one with anti-pork barrel groups in the country, that the people use the 1987

Philippine Constitution provision on the passage of a law through the PEOPLE’S INITIATIVE

(PI). This way, the people themselves can craft and sign into law a more comprehensive legal

solution to abolish the pork barrel system.

Likewise, the CEBU COALITION AGAINST THE PORK BARREL SYSTEM invites you to:

PEOPLE’S RALLY ON INDEPENDENCE DAY

at the Fuente Osmeña on June 12, 2014 at 2:00 in the afternoon.

This activity highlights the experiences, reflections, and “calls” from different sectors deeply

affected by the Pork Barrel Scam and knowledgeable about the People’s Initiative.

Concerned groups and individuals are invited to join this June 12, 2014 activity from 1:30 PM to

5:00 in the afternoon. The Cebu Coalition Against the Pork Barrel System (0927 3493409/

0998-4564378/ 0923-8720288/ email:archdiocesandiscernment@gmail.com) will coordinate the

details of this activity. Note also that the June 12, 2014 Gathering is also to prepare us for the

National People’s Congress on People’s Initiative on August 23, 2014 at the Cebu Mariners’

Court.
