We are thankful for the opportunity to share the true meaning of Christmas this year with the military members at our new location in Spokane, Washington at Fairchild Air Force Base. We would not have this privilege without your kind and thoughtful prayer and financial support. We are always very grateful to the Lord for your friendship and sharing in this ministry! Luke 19:10 tells us that, “Jesus came to seek and to save the lost.” Sue and I meet many Air Force Airmen each week who say they were raised in a Christian family or attended church occasionally in their past, but they are not Christians. ey don’t know the Gospel and very little if anything about the Bible. ey enjoy the holidays but are completely unaware of the true meaning of Christmas. We are continually surprised at the number of these young Airmen who clearly don’t know the Lord and yet visit the hospitality house frequently. When they come, they experience a home where they are loved and cared for. Sue feeds them . . . that means a lot . . . and we can have great conversations about their lives and the Gospel. As you know, we arrived in Spokane in early August after a challenging move from Travis Air Force Base after 18 years of ministry there. Chaplain Reyes, the Wing Chaplain at Travis, along with the Chapel staff and others, did their best to recognize our time in ministry by hosting a wonderful presentation in the presence of Travis commanders and leadership. We found it difficult to say goodbye to all our friends and partners in ministry. As we left, we were uncertain of what was ahead. But honestly, we sensed the Lord in all of this and although there were many challenges . . . still . . . we began to see that He had clearly prepared the way. Merry Christmas!

They don’t know the Gospel and very little if anything about the Bible. They enjoy the holidays but are completely unaware of the true meaning of Christmas.

I was asked to lead a men’s

Bible study at the Fairchild Chapel before I had even met anyone! That first Wednesday night, I met Whitney, a very outgoing, young dorm resident who is a people magnet. She was so excited to learn that we were interested in ministering to the Airmen who live in the dorms. We had not even settled in yet but were off and running!

The three Chaplains at Fairchild have embraced us and are a continual encouragement. They told us to choose our area of ministry and we would have their support! Each week the hospitality house ministry is advertised in the Chapel bulletin and they have already taken an offering for us! When we decided to begin ministry in the dorm area, the Chapel staff promoted it in every way possible.

Bible Study: Thursday Single Airmen dinner and Bible study (and associated activities!). Airmen are at the hospitality house every weekend and some evenings to spend time with each other and us. It’s a blessing to be wanted but most shocking are the open doors for ministry that are always in front of us.

The Airmen’s ministry in the Dorm area where 500 of the youngest, single Airmen live is new for this base. Virtually no Christian ministry has taken place there for years. These young adults have had no one other than peers, to talk with and confide in. One 19-year-old broke down in tears as he shared with me how he stayed in his room, alone for his first eight months here. Many come from broken families—some of the stories we hear are heartbreaking. Sue and I are already feeling like parents to a few.

I always wonder how to fully explain the impact your financial giving and prayer support has made on the lives of these young Americans. It is working! We are grateful for your confidence in us as we work to reach many with the Gospel. Christmas and New Years are especially important times for us to show the love of Christ to many at Fairchild AFB . . . our food bill is high!

Our family continues to be a great support for us. Nathan and Sarah and the boys live with us and are a huge help in

the ministry. Colby and Katie and the two-year old twins are now at McCord AFB, only five hours away. In February, the Air Force is sending Joel and Catie to Hurlburt AFB in Florida. Sounds like a good place to visit for vacation!

Thank you for continuing to pray for us and for joining us in reaching young military members for Christ. Thank you for helping us make the transition from Fairfield to Spokane and for the tremendous support we experienced during the move. We are always grateful to the Lord for your love and support and would love to hear from you!

Love In Christ,

Sandy and Sue
