The House System (School Houses)

To develop leadership and artistic skills and to provide adequate care to the students, the School has four houses namely Ganges, Satluj, Yamuna and Jhelum and all students are grouped in one of them. A Captain and a Vice‐Captain for each house are elected through a democratic procedure. They are assisted by two authorities in the Primary section who are nominated by the Primary faculty members. This grouping fosters a vertical integration in the School and gives students a feeling of belonging and sharing. Healthy competition and team spirit among the houses develop through Inter‐house games, sports, debates, dramatics, music, quizzes and other co‐curricular activities.

The Rhythmic Learning

It is said that where words fail, music speaks. At DPS GBN we aim at honing the musical sensibilities of the students. The Music and Dance department trains the students in classical as well as western music and dance forms. The Music and dance rooms have been specially designed keeping in mind the space and acoustics required for these classes.

The school's band “Crescendo” is a constant feature in every school ceremony and has gathered quite a bit of fan following in the school.

“Music can change the world because it can change people.”— Bono

One World Many Languages

The school understands that being multilingual is an absolute necessity in a rapidly shrinking world. The school offers the students a chance to learn a number of foreign languages like French, German and Spanish. The students are given real world exposure as they participate in interschool events as well as national/international level competitions. In fact some of our students have already made the school proud and grabbed the winner's trophy in interschool competitions.

“Knowledge of languages is the doorway to wisdom.”— Roger Bacon

In House language assemblies are held to give a glimpse of the nation's culture to other students as well. The colourful presentations during Spanish, French or German assemblies are appreciated by one and all.

To facilitate a better understanding of the language various student exchange programmes are also in place.
