GENERAL DEMOLITION NOTES

1. ALL DEMOLITION WORK IS TO BE REVIEWED WITH THEARCHITECT/ENGINEER PRIOR TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF WORK.

2. EXISTING CONDITIONS ARE TAKEN FROM FIELD OBSERVATIONS ANDPRIOR CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS WHEN AVAILABLE AND ARE NOTGUARANTEED. CONTRACTOR SHALL FIELD VERIFY ALL EXISTINGCONDITIONS PRIOR TO BID. NO ALLOWANCE WILL BE MADE FORADDITIONAL COSTS DUE TO CONTRACTORS FAILURE TO VERIFYEXISTING CONDITIONS AND DIMENSIONS.

3. ALL DEBRIS AND MATERIALS DESIGNATED FOR REMOVAL SHALLBECOME THE PROPERTY OF THE CONTRACTOR, UNLESS OTHERWISENOTED, AND THE CONTRACTOR SHALL DISPOSE OF ALL DEMOLITIONAND/OR OTHER WASTE MATERIALS, CAUSED BY THIS CONSTRUCTION,OFF SITE IN A PROPER LEGAL MANNER.

4. WHEN EXISTING CONSTRUCTION WHICH IS TO REMAIN IS DAMAGEDDURING THE COURSE OF CONSTRUCTION AS A RESULT OFCONTRACTORS WORK, IT SHALL BE REPAIRED AND/OR REPLACEDWITH SIMILAR OR LIKE MATERIALS, SUBJECT TO ARCHITECTSAPPROVAL AND WITHOUT COMPENSATION.

5. WHERE ITEMS HAVE BEEN REMOVED AND ANCHORS, LUGS,BRACKETS, SUPPORTS, VOIDS, ETC., REMAIN, THEY ARE TO BEREMOVED AND PATCHED TO MATCH ADJACENT FINISHES AT NOADDITIONAL COST TO THE OWNER.

6. ALL AREAS SCHEDULED FOR NEW FLOOR, WALL AND/OR CEILINGFINISHES ARE TO HAVE OLD FINISHES REMOVED, LEVELED, PATCHEDAND PREPARED FOR NEW FINISHES AT NO ADDITIONAL COST TO THEOWNER. IF FLOORING, WALLS OR CEILINGS ARE REMOVEDUNDER A SEPARATE CONTRACT, THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR ISRESPONSIBLE FOR LEVELING, PATCHING AND PREPARATION FOR NEWFINISHES.

7. IF REMOVED EQUIPMENT PASSES THROUGH ROOF, PATCH ROOFACCORDING TO ROOFING MANUFACTURERS REQUIREMENTS CONTACTROOFING MANUFACTURER AND PROVIDE PROOF OF CONTINUATION OFEXISTING WARRANTY.

8. WHERE DOORS AND FRAMES ARE TO BE REMOVED AND SALVAGEDFOR REINSTALLATION, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CLEAN ANDREFINISH TO MATCH ADJACENT EXISTING DOORS AND FRAMES.

9. CONTRACTOR TO COORDINATE WITH OWNER, TO REMOVE,TEMPORARILY STORE AND RELOCATE EXISTING FURNITURE AND ALLEXISTING LOOSE EQUIPMENT ITEMS AS NECESSARY TOACCOMMODATE DEMOLITION AND RENOVATION.

1. CONSTRUCTION SHALL CONFORM TO THE “NEW YORK STATE UNIFORM FIRE PROTECTIONAND BUILDING CODE”, LATEST REVISION, THE NEW YORK STATE ENERGY CODE AND ANYOTHER CODES GOVERNED BY THE JURISDICTION IN WHICH THE PROJECT IS BEINGCONSTRUCTED.

2. CONSTRUCTION SHALL COMPLY WITH ALL LOCAL, STATE AND FEDERAL CODES ANDREGULATIONS.

3. ALL DRAWINGS ARE GRAPHIC REPRESENTATIONS OF APPROXIMATE LOCATIONS OF MATERIALS.IT IS THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO FIELD-VERIFY ALL CONDITIONS PRIOR TOCOMMENCEMENT OF WORK. CONTRACTOR SHALL NOT SCALE THE DRAWINGS.

4. CONTRACTORS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL MATERIALS, CONSTRUCTION METHODS ANDCRAFTSMANSHIP.

5. CONTRACTORS ARE TO VERIFY ALL EXISTING CONDITIONS, REQUIREMENTS, NOTES, ANDDIMENSIONS, PRIOR TO THE START OF CONSTRUCTION AND SHALL NOTIFY THE ARCHITECT IFCONDITIONS VARY FROM THOSE SHOWN ON THE DOCUMENTS.

6. CONTRACTORS ARE RESPONSIBLE TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE SUPPORT OF EXISTINGFOUNDATION WALLS, LOAD BEARING WALLS, PARTITIONS AND CEILINGS DURING DEMOLITIONAND CONSTRUCTION.

7. CONTRACTORS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THOROUGH COORDINATION OF WORK AND DETERMININGTHE EXACT ROUTE AND LOCATION OF UTILITIES, MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT BEFORE FABRICATIONAND INSTALLATION WHEREVER THEY OVERLAP. NOTIFY THE ARCHITECT/ENGINEER IN WRITINGIF FIELD CONDITIONS VARY FROM THOSE SHOWN ON THE DOCUMENTS.

8. WHEN EXISTING CONSTRUCTION IS REMOVED, DISTURBED, DAMAGED, REPLACED ORRENOVATED IN ANY WAY, CONTRACTORS SHALL PROVIDE PATCHING, PAINTING ANDMATERIALS OF SAME TYPE AND QUALITY AS TO MATCH ADJACENT EXISTING SURFACES,UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.

9. AREAS OF THE SITE DISTURBED DURING THE CONSTRUCTION PROCESS SHALL BE CORRECTEDTO THE SATISFACTION OF THE OWNER AND ARCHITECT.

10. CONTRACTOR TO PROVIDE ALL BLOCKING, FURRING AND SHIMMING FOR INSTALLATION ANDCOMPLETION OF ALL WORK.

11. ALL WORK SHALL BE PLUMB, LEVEL AND SQUARE. SCRIBE AND MAKE FIT ALL NEW TOEXISTING AND ALL NEW TO NEW CONSTRUCTION.

12. VERIFY ALL DIMENSIONS BEFORE ORDERING MATERIAL OR DOING WORK. NO EXTRACOMPENSATION OR CHARGES WILL BE ACCEPTED DUE TO DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE ACTUALMEASUREMENTS AND MEASUREMENTS INDICATED ON THE DRAWINGS.

13. ALL DETAILS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE DUE TO EXISTING FIELD CONDITIONS. CONTRACTORMUST NOTIFY ARCHITECT IN WRITING OF ANY DISCREPANCIES.

14. ITEMS NOTED AS 'BY OWNER' ARE TO BE FURNISHED AND INSTALLED BY THE OWNER OR THEOWNER'S VENDOR.

15. ITEMS NOTED 'OWNER FURNISHED CONTRACTOR INSTALLED (O.F.C.I.)' ARE TO BE SUPPLIED BYOWNER AND INSTALLED BY THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR.

704 – MEANS OF EGRESSSection 704.1 GENERAL.

Alterations shall be done in a manner that maintains the level of protection provided for the means of egress.

705 - ACCESSIBILITYSection 705.1 General:

A facility that is altered shall comply with the applicable provisions in Section 705.1.1 through 705.1.14, and Chapter 11 of theInternational

Building Code unless it is technically infeasible. Where compliance with this section is technically infeasible, the alteration shall provideaccess to the maximum extent that is technically infeasible.

3.2. BLANK OFF EXISTING SUPPLY AND RETURN AIR OPENINGS TO/FROM COUNTY AND SUPREME COURT ROOM 320 FOR DURATION OFCONSTRUCTION SO AS NOT TO CIRCULATE CONSTRUCTION DUST INTO EXISTING UNIT AHU(E)-3 AND THROUGHOUT BUILDING.

4. INSTALL WORK AS INDICATED ON THE DRAWINGS.  VERIFY EXACT POSITION AND ELEVATION OF ALL EXISTING AND NEW WORK AT THE SITE.  DONOT SCALE DIMENSIONS OFF THE DRAWINGS.  MAKE NECESSARY CHANGES IN ELEVATION, FITTINGS, OR OFFSETS TO AVOID INTERFERENCES.

5. ALL MATERIAL SHALL BE PROPERLY STORED AS REQUIRED BY THE MANUFACTURER OR COMMONLY ACCEPTED INDUSTRY PRACTICE, UNTIL USEDON THE PROJECT. 

6. DIMENSIONS ON DRAWINGS ARE FOR REFERENCE ONLY AND ARE MEANT ONLY TO CONVEY DESIGN INTENT.  CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FORVERIFYING ALL MEASUREMENTS BEFORE ORDERING MATERIALS OR PERFORMING ANY WORK.  NO EXTRA COMPENSATION OR CHANGE ORDERSWILL BE ISSUED DUE TO DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE ACTUAL MEASUREMENT AND THE DIMENSIONS ON THE DRAWINGS.  CONTRACTOR SHALLLAY OUT ALL EQUIPMENT PRIOR TO FABRICATION OR INSTALLATION TO ASSURE PROPER FIT AND AVOIDANCE OF OBSTRUCTIONS.  WORK BETWEENALL TRADES SHALL BE THOROUGHLY COORDINATED BEFORE FABRICATION AND INSTALLATION COMMENCES.

INFILL AND PATCHING OF WALLS AND FLOORS SHALL MATCHEXISTING MATERIALS WITH IDENTICAL FIRE & SMOKE RATING CHARACTERISTICS WHERE APPLICABLE.
