mPARENTS EVENING

The Nursery recently held their Summer Term parents evening on Tuesday 24 July. This is a chance to look at your child’s work and talk in greater detail about your child’s achievements whilst enjoying some of the free drinks and nibbles available. Many parents attended the evening and enjoyed the chance to find out more about their child’s day. We would like to thank all parents who attended as communication is the key to your child’s progress. If you were not able to attend the parents evening, please book an appointment with Kirsty Moss, Nursery Manager.

MOVING ON

The children will be moving rooms as of September 2012 as they reach the next steps in their development. You will be informed when your child is moving to their new room and who their key workers will be. Children have already begun to have transition sessions to prepare them for their next move. Well done to all our children and we look forward to their next big steps!

NEW EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE CURRICULUM (EYFS)

From September 2012, the Nursery will be following the new EYFS Curriculum.

Babies and Toddlers will follow three Prime Area’s of Learning:• Personal,SocialandEmotionalDevelopment;• CommunicationandLanguage;• PhysicalDevelopment.

Pre-school children will follow the three Prime Area’s of Learning, plus four Specific Area’s of Learning:• Literacy;• Mathematics;• UnderstandingoftheWorld;• ExpressiveArtsandDesign.

The Nursery staff have created a display of information for parents and carers on the new curriculum and are happy to answer any questions. The provision within Nursery will still focus upon a balance of indoor and outdoor play, 1 to1 work, group play and child choice time ensuring that all children are happy and engaged. The main changes parents and carers will note is the reporting at four points of the year in which we will share with you where your child is developing, what they need to do next and what they have enjoyed at Nursery. We aim to keep parents continually up to date with their child’s development enabling you to work with your child at home.

MOVING ON

FOCUS ON: THE BABY ROOM

In the Baby Room we have had a focus upon the Summer fun. We were very thankful for the sun when it finally made its appearance! The babies have enjoyed painting with water on the decking area and particularly enjoyed splashing in a shallow tray of water and enjoying soaking Gemma with the water!

FOCUS ON: THE TODDLER ROOM

In the Toddler Room the children have been lookingat the summer time and have enjoyed using the beach role play area – ‘with real sand!’ as one toddler described. The toddlers have worked hard to create a summer time display with their own painting and decorations. Why not visit our beach the next time you are at Nursery.

FOCUS ON: PRE-SCHOOL ROOM

In the Pre-school Room the children have been thinking about the Summer as a season and what that means in terms of weather, clothing and wildlife and. They have created a beautiful display in the toilet area, sharing their knowledge of the season of summer. Please take the time to look at our lovely display. We have also been enjoying the summer weather (at last!) by doing lots of music and movement, thinking of summer sounds.

CAR PARKING

We appreciate the understanding of all our parents and carers whilst we have had to use the temporary car park at the Nursery. This is for 6 weeks only and should be completed by September. We appreciate your support whilst these works are carried out.

DANI’S PARACHUTE JUMP!

One of our staff members, Dani, took a ‘brave jump’ completing a tandem parachute jump on Friday 3 August. Thank you to all parents who have supported Dani in this charity event by sponsoring her. All monies raised are being donated to Heartlink, a charity based at the Glenfield Hospital. Heartlink supported Dani and her partner when their daughter Poppy-May was born.

SECURITY

Could all parents and visitors to the Nursery please remember to close the door and the gate when leaving the building, so that the children still on the premises are safe and secure.
