Surface Tension Modifier are formu- lated to be used in chromium-plating solutions to suppress fumes and reduce bath surface tension. They produce a stable foam blanket that reduces plat- ing mists. Reducing chromic acid drag-out, the suppressants cut chrome waste. Since chromic acid mist is sharply reduced, there is less chrome exhaust into the plant air and out the stacks. Benchmate CR- 1700 maintains bath surface tension at or below 40 dynes/cm to reduce chromic acid loss and to minimize chromic acid mist blowing in the plating area.
