Galeria Quintana Fine Art in San Miguel de Allende, Gto. MexicoTRANSCRIPT

fachadas ocre, amarillas o rojas. San Miguel de Allende alberga una gran
comunidad norteamericana y atrae numerosos artistas y escritores.

Mexico
San Miguel de Allende was founded in 1542 by Juan de San Miguel, a
Franciscan priest, in a place formerly occupied by the Chichimec indians. In
colonial times, the city was a strategic place in the route to Mexico and
other large mining cities in the area know as “el bajío” (Guanajuato and
Zacatecas).
The city, considered a historic monument, still has a colonial atmosphere, with
its narrow cobbled streets and yellow, red and brown houses. There is a
large American community living in San Miguel de Allende and many artist
and writers are attracted to this town.
The old downtown houses give the city a unique atmosphere of peace and
tranquility, only interrupted by the various shops selling crafts, the
luxurious lofts, the charming hotels, restaurants and art galleries that
enrich and enliven this beautiful city.

hermana mayor.
6
a puerta abierta.

Chata Quintana
My name is Maria del Carmen Quintana Woodworth better known
(Chata Quintana) . I was born on a ranch in Gomez Palacios, Durango, in 1935,
where the blue sky is smearing of Cantabrian Sea mix than running through my
veins defined a wild temper.
My father, Jesus Quintana Villanueva and my mother, Carmen Woodworth, were
the first molded, poured my life. Freedom and joy was the constant in the
family. The brothers, two men and a woman, were part of the landscape that
invited her to paint the emotions a child and later, big sister responsibilities.
At eight years old I made my first oil. I remember that I got a pretty old paintings,
I could hardly open the lid and remove the contents least, but like stubbornness
is one of my characteristics, find the way to do it and so came on a table,
because I had no canvas, my first box consisting of a pumpkin, a brown sugar
and a jug. AI finish the smugness over me. Since then I discovered that my
creation would limit myself, because I had a wealth of inspiration. The painting
consists of several techniques: oil, pastel, watercolor, charcoal and others, all
have practiced and even dared to innovate inventing mixtures. Everything can
improvise, less emotion and feeling.
8
These belong to the spirit, and an artist can not called such, if their works do not carry these two ingredients.
The ability to dream I got into his own world where the inhabitants were the imagination, inventiveness and creativity.
Since formally start my activity self-taught painter and ceramist continually wondered how far I had come in art; doubt one could it be that I’m right, or I’m missing? They never stop learning! So, using that I was in New York, went to his Academy of Art to do an assessment of my knowledge.
Do not ask me anything, I just quoted for one day. Arrive on time, seven teachers were waiting, nerves invaded me to see it was a door open. In front of me put several objects for me to make my composition. Reflexes are my passion: silver, crystal, copper, water. AI end, wait for the verdict.
One of the teachers who was Greek I wonder why the primary colors, secondary and tertiary, you look scared and Ie said. “There is God, not know.” EI said, “so, where the heck do you get the color combinations?”.
I gave my explanation and he told me aback “Never take classes, go ahead, you can be master without anyone teach you, in a single frame have used several techniques have the gift, and were born with it.”
I’m sure the art is the main cause of this, because my love for nature and the beauty that God’s work, draws me to make my creations.
