It is with heavy hearts that the family of Raymond Richard Morris Kerfoot announce his passing on December 6, 2015. Raymond was born in New Westminster, BC, on November 22, 1958, second child of six, to Charlie and Marilyn Kerfoot. The family moved to the Slocan Valley when Ray was 3. Ray was a diehard valley boy and called the Slocan Valley home. In high school Raymond was an amazing athlete. He excelled in baseball and basketball, and broke records in the 100 metre dash in track and field. He loved fast cars (he had many) and loud music; Journey and Air Supply were two of his favourite bands. He was a very hard worker and spent most of his working years at Slocan Forest Products.

Ray had his struggles in life, but everyone who knew him knew he had a big heart. He was very generous and would give you his last penny even if it meant he had none for himself. Raymond was predeceased by his parents. He leaves behind the pride and joy of his life, his daughters Brittany (Tim) and Racheal (Gordon) and his grandchildren Kauston and Kayda.  Ray-mond will be missed by his 5 brothers and sisters: Deb (Phil), Chuck (Dee), Kim (Sheldon), Kevin, and Koreen (Todd); by his Auntie Bev; and by many extended family and friends. A celebration of life will be held August 13 from 1:30 – 4:00 pm at the Winlaw Hall.

Sunday Concert Series Presents Couloir Duo

Th e next concert in the TD Canada Trust Sun-day Concert Series will be held at the Kootenay Gal-lery on Sunday, February 21 featuring the highly acclaimed Couloir Duo. Audiences are in for a very special performance

by Ariel Barnes, principal cellist of the Vancouver Sym-phony Orchestra and Heidi Krutzen, principal harpist of the Philharmonia Orchestra London, UK.

Couloir Duo is bringing transcendent art music into the 21st Century. With a palpable chemistry in their music making, they share their passion for creating fresh music with contemporary composers using the exqui-site sound world of cello and harp. Since their launch in 2011 at Music On Main’s Modulus Festival, Couloir has engaged in the creation of new works by seven outstand-ing Canadian and American composers: Jocelyn Morlock, Baljinder Sekhon, Glenn Buhr, Brad Turner, Caroline Lizotte, James Maxwell and Andrew Staniland. Creat-ing these new works has led to performances throughout North America, from as far north as the Yukon Territory to the southern US in Louisiana.

Highlights in their concertizing include several perfor-mances at the Ottawa International Chamber Music Fes-tival, touring across Canada under the auspices of Prairie Debut, tours in Washington, Louisiana, Maryland and Oklahoma and performing World Premiers in national broadcasts on CBC Radio 2.

Join us at the Kootenay Gallery, on Sunday, February 21 at 1:30 pm. Tickets are $15 general admission or $12 for Gallery members. Th e Gallery is located across from the airport, adjacent to the Doukhobor Discovery Centre on Heritage Way. For more information, contact the Gallery at 250-365-3337 or visit www.kootenaygallery.com.

Kali and Patches are indoor-only kitties who have been best friends all their lives and are looking to be adopted together. Their world was turned upside down when their person had to give them up, but they are resilient girls, and they have settled right in to their KAAP foster home. Both are used to a quiet lifestyle, and are happiest joining their people in front of the TV or just hanging out. They are healthy, clean kitties and even though they are approaching their senior years, they still have lots of playful moments. Special Senior Cat adoption fee.
