It all started with books. The “Casper and Emma” films and TV series are based on the immensely popular children’s novels “Karsten and Petra” by Tor Åge Bringsværd and Anne G. Holt. In the film ”Casper and Emma - Best Friends”, we meet Emma who is about to celebrate her fifth birthday. What she wants more than anything is a dog. Only Emma’s mom, who is a vet, says she has to be a little older to look after a dog. But Emma insists that five years is more than old enough!
Casper is dreading his first day at his new kindergarten. But when he gets there, he meets Emma. And just as Casper has his Lion Cub with him, she has also brought along a stuffed animal, Miss Rabbit, who constantly comes alive, and from that day on Casper and Emma become best friends.
They play together all the time, even though their classmate Sigrid keeps teasing them. Casper is along when Emma meets the old and very cute dog Bassa for the first time. Emma falls in love with Bassa and wants to take her home immediate-ly. Miss Rabbit gets really jealous of Bassa, and when Emma and Casper are at the fire station with their class, she runs off and hides. Emma thinks she has lost Miss Rabbit forever, and nothing can make her happy again. But on her birthday, Emma doesn’t just get one great surprise, she gets two!

Casper is looking forward to the annual Winter Vacation, because his whole family will be heading South!
But then his parents quarrel, and cancel the trip. Casper is secretly scared his parents are going to get divorced, but Emma cheers him up, inviting him on a ski trip with her Grandpa and his partner, Esther. At Esther’s cabin the two of them play games in the snow and have great time together, and soon get to know a boy their own age called Peter, who is really good at skiing. Well, actually, he’s good at everything!
Casper soon comes to reckon that Emma is far too keen on Peter, and resolves to show her that he too is good at things. But can he actually win Emma back this way?

Casper and Emma is looking forward to Christmas, but where is the snow? Emma decides to write to Santa Claus. She wants both snow and a toboggan, and that Santa will finally take the time to properly visit.We follow the two friends through Advent. They learn about Christmas and all the nice traditions that follow. They’re also awaiting Bassas puppies which will arrive soon. Everything is set for the proper Christmas spirit and a wonerful celebration. In kindergarten they learn car-ols and make Christmas decorations.
When Esther suggests that Grampa should celebrate Christmas with her and her sister at the cabin, Emma is no longer looking forward to Christmas. She wants to celebrate Christmas with Grampa as she always does. Casper comforts her, and with the use of Miss Rabbits’ Christmas spirit song, they decide to make the best Christmas spirit ever so it will be impossible for Grampa to travel to Esthers cabin. The snow has yet to arrive, but when there are 6 slots left in the Advent calen-dar Casper and Emma manage to convince both Grampa and Esther to celebrate Christmas at home by providing the best ever Christmas spirit.

Casper and Emma are going to Africa! In Africa Emma’s mom will help her friend Ann who works as a veterinarian at the animal clinic Camp Eden. Together with Emma’s Grandfather and their faithful companions, cuddly toys Miss Rabbit and Lion Cub they are very exited to meet all the animals on the farm! Lion Cub is es-pecially exited, will he meet a real lion? Casper and Emma soon becomes friends with Ann’s daughter Tiri and her cuddly toy the turtle, Turte. Tiri brings her new friends on a safari where they find a baby Lion whom they name Leo and bring back to Camp Eden. Emma becomes worried because Leo won’t eat his food, she realizes it must be because he misses his mother too much, and Casper and Emma decide to go on a mission to find Leo’s mom! On their adventure they meet a lot of obstacles, but also makes new friends. Will they find Leos mum?
