Legal ComplianceAAP Update: Inside What the OFCCP Is Really Up To and the New Regulations You Should Prepare for Now

This update is targeted at federal contractors and subcontractors subject to OFCCP regulations who already have completed Affi rmative Action Plans in place, and are looking for information on preparing for the new regulations which go into effect in March 2014. We’ll also provide a refresher on what should be done throughout the year in order to be in compliance with the regulations and OFCCP’s expectations. Hint: If your AAP is collecting dust on a shelf or if you are asking “what compensation analysis?”, watch out! Leave with a list of “do's and don'ts” and tips on surviving an audit.

Harassment Awareness Training

Increasing awareness of workplace harassment is one of the most important steps employers can take to reduce associated risk and ensure employees have a respectful work environment. Reasonable Suspicion Training

All supervisors and managers need to know how to recognize the signs and symptoms of and effectively respond to drug and alcohol use. Key learning points include: elements of reasonable suspicion; observing signs and symptoms of drug and alcohol use and abuse; how to document, approach employees and arrange for reasonable suspicion tests; and, avoiding the most common mistakes.

Basics of Family Leave

Understanding the rules and dynamics between different leave laws and your organization’s policies and practices is the key to managing risk associated with leaves of absence. This session is designed to provide a basic understanding of the many leave laws that affect your workplace, including statutory requirements for OFLA, FMLA, ADA, Workers’ Compensation and other applicable leaves, seven steps to administer leave, and how to deal with common leave issues.

The unemployment benefi ts process is complex, and there aren’t a lot of good resources out there to help you understand. Our presenter, Ryan Orr, was an administrative law judge handling unemployment hearings for several years and is looking forward to demystifying the process for you.

Participants who complete this workshop will receive a successful certifi cation card in CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation) and fi rst aid. The program meets OSHA requirements for the states of Oregon and Washington. This workshop will include training in basic skills and basic AED (automated external defi brillator) operation.
